LOL. South Australia was a free colony... no convicts! So NER!

But yeah, I'm wondering if people think that people sound "white" or whatever in an e-mail...

...or a post for that matter. I know that sometimes I tend to try to deterimine if somebody is male or female from a post -- but I don't think I've ever factored race into it. I'm more interested in what you have to say than in the color of your skin.

When I was an administrator of a board, I viewed bannings as a necessary evil. I wished I didn't have to do it -- but I found I had to do it a lot. At first I was uncomfortable with the idea... but as time went on, I got more and more used to it.

In general though, if there was a digital equivalent to giving people a big slap in the side of the head,
I'd go with that before banning, any day.

Course, I think sometimes the *lack* of slapping-in-the-head (or other physical violence) is why some people feel that they can act like arseholes to begin with. In real life, they'd get a punch in the head..... online... what exactly do you get? A warning? Pffftttpppbbbbttt.

Hmm... well, I wouldn't say I'm drunk, but I've had a few.....

You can track the level of drunkenness if you want -- just see how incoherent my posts get from here on in.

And cheers Kitten Yiffer, for the b'day greets

Also: Beer is awesome.

Skirmishes are lots of fun.

I was setting myself little challenges before, but I haven't played in a while, so I decided I'd just go for easy enemies -- just lots of them.

7 Easy Enemies offers an interesting challenge -- not cause the enemies themselves are hard, but it's a definite fight over the resources available in the game..... (I wound up using Engineers to take over enemy bases, and then selling their stuff to get funds...)

I'm guessing with a VPN, I could play over the Internet..... but other than tha, I can't. Damn, I'd really like to play against *real people*. I'm positive you'd kick my arse, as I suspect that the machine -- even on Brutal -- isn't all that tricky.

Posted on 12-10-04 04:08 PM, in The last great game of 2004...KOTOR 2 Link
I was looking for KOTOR (1) for PC. I don't think my Mac will handle the copy I found at the Apple Store....

Unfortunately, I can't find it, which disappoints me, as this is the only Star Wars game that I'm interested in at all. I want to play with both the light and the dark sides of the Force...

Are the specs for KOTOR 2 much higher?? And is it worth me even looking for KOTOR 1 at all??

Oh, 160 is my "best scenario" estimate, btw. I think I'm more likely to be 150, but..... and I don't think I'm any smaller than that at all.... but still 160 is me being an optimist.

My Nanna is shorter than me though, and my Mum is about the same height.... although when I realise it, it weirds me out that I stand eye-to-eye with my mother.

Ben is pretty tall, but I don't know exactly how tall he is. I just know he's taller than me (that's not saying much)

Lucky!! Ours is only good in certain areas, and very bad in others.

I guess the choice though with petrol stuff here depends not only on the price of petrol, but also the quality of service provided by Public (or other) Transport in your area.

Mine sucks, but not enough for me to really seriously look at getting a car. It'd have to be a little worse before I thought otherwise.

wha? Flavored beer?

I don't even know what Cactus tastes like, but I know some people put a slice of Lime in their beer...

I've never had a flavored beer. I have had a "shandy" before (which is beer and lemonade) but that's as close as I've gotten to that.... and I wasn't a fan of it anyways.

Anya and Elmo -- yeah, don't you just love how Alcohol removes inhibitions... and the ability to make your fingers hit the right keys on the keyboard?

I am posting a bit at the moment -- this is cause I'm trying to take the ACS for my b'day too. (seeing as I think I've only done it once before, and only on a day when the board went down). Somebody hold down Trapster and gag him, willya?

I've been putting off the blood test I'm supposed to get, but I got a letter yesterday from the doctor's saying I have to go have my blood tested.

They're testing for elevated Liver Enzymes (apparently my doctor thinks I am an alcoholic... which is BS), but while I'm there, I'll try to remember to ask for my blood type.

From what I've seen of a lot of anime sites, they seem to list Blood Type a lot. I've heard that the Japanese consider Blood Types similarly to how we see the Zodiac.... does anybody know for sure?

I've just noticed something about when I've been drinking.

Speed goes up dramatically -- but accuracy is a bit of a random crapshoot.

I should still be resting my wrist, but it's been much better in the last weeks.

Well, if I ever get my thing to work without the BSoD, I'll challenge you to a game.

And I didn't realise that there were other Star Wars RTS games coming out.... I'll have to look out for them when they come out.

And yeah, it is easy to get money in RA2... although if you get enough people competing with you for it, (as mentioned in my post) it's not as easy any more! Like I said, I was taking over the enemy base -- not cause I wanted to defeat them, but cause I wanted their precious, precious resources.

I've been given a copy of VMware at work.

Apart from the obvious -- various Windows installs I need for work.... does anybody have any suggestions for things I should play with in VMware?

I figure this is a good opportunity for me to just play with OS'es (as generally I don't have other PC's to do this with) so I was wondering... is there anything you can suggest I have a play with now?

I'd like to have a play with FreeDOS, so that's one of the things I'm looking at. I would rather avoid several different distrubutions of Linux (unless the case for a particular *nix is compelling), but would like to try some of the other stuff out there....

Suggestions? What should I do with VMware!?

I've already installed:

Windows NT Workstation
Windows 98 Second Edition
Windows 2000 Professional
Windows Server 2003
Fedora Core 3

I need the first ones for work, and my core (non virtual) os is XP if it makes any difference.

Would Red Alert 2 run in FreeDOS?

I can't tell if it was sarcasm or not. Evidently, a few users actually need to know how to do this.

MS Paint isn't bad for making sigs though -- it's really really good for pixel art (particularly isometric).

I just don't think anybody is going to make isometric signatures....

Ah.... eh, I just asked cause I wondered if VMware is perhaps a solution to another problem I have.....

I want to play Red Alert at work... but if I play it in XP, it fullscreens and I... am not entirely sure if my boss will be thrilled with me playing RTS at work. If it's a window, I can hide it easier.....

nobody else gives a shit, but.... still, don't wanna piss off the boss. But that's a seperate issue....

... yeah the AI seems a little limited. If you can stop them getting men to you, the Soviet (and soviet-alikes) start using Kirov's to do everything.

Which the first time I saw them was scary....(but easy to deal with afterwards)

Oooh, I hope they have Kirov's in the new game!! There's something about a giant, slow moving floating bubble of DEATH that is just *cool*.

This may possibly affect users outside of Hardware / Software, but it's probably best to post it here anyways.

AOL have stuffed up. They seem to have suspended a bunch of accounts.. by mistake. (D'oh!)

They are going to fix it... but... wow.

Anybody here affected?

I checked that I was able to log in after also seeing it on Slashdot. I figured I'd post it here though, just in case anybody is wondering why AIM hates them all of a sudden.

My account works.... but hopefully this will clear up some questions for anybody who is having trouble. I hear it's reasonably widespread, but I hope few people here are affected.
