Yes... Today I had to take 360 pages of photocopied physics notes and sort them into 8 booklets of 45... while putting them in order.... really booorrrriiiing. It seemed to take forever.

When I finished, it seemed like each of the 8 piles (not very neatly stacked) were the half the height of the original 360 page pile (neatly stacked).

Next time, (hopefully there won't be a next time) I'm going to get only ONE copy, and get the school secratary to photocopy them with AUTO SORT AND STAPLE. (Why didn't I do this in the first place?)

Posted on 12-14-04 12:57 AM, in Sega Saturn Emulation Link
I recently acquired a BIN/CUE file of the Saturn game "Sonic 3D Blast". However, I am still looking for a Saturn emulator decent enough to run it. I can get as far as the opening animation with the SSF emulator (vers. 007 prototype R12), but that's about it.

Any suggestions?

Until I can get this running, well, I'll just mount the image with A-120% and enjoy the music (main reason for downloading the game) with Winamp, but it would be really great to finally play the Saturn version!

Thanks!
EDIT: Well, I've managed to get a little more working. In Cassini, I managed to get sound, and a REALLY good framerate. However, it still dies during the opening animation (Cassini gets just a few seconds more than SSF.) Well, it's improving, but I still haven't got the game working... help please!

Saturnin: no luck... it manages to display the bios (very slow framerate might I add), but what I try to load the game, it chrashes.

Speaking of the bios, do you think it could be a problem with that? I have two different bios files, maybe one of them is causing it not to work..

EDIT: well, that's strange... I just tried Cassini again... If I minimize it while the intro clip is playing, and let it play through, i can get to the map screen. But it dies there... Well, at least there's progress...

I've updated the background for my layout. I kept all of the tables the same. ("if it ain't broke don't fix it" )
EDIT: well, when I fixed the scrollbar, I also adjusted the tables so they would better fit the background...

Tell me what you think!

Also, over the last few days I've added 40 NEW WALLPAPERS to my wallpaper site... http://www.jeffswallpapers.tk
The new ones are the "Abstrakt" pack and the "Photoz" pack.
Check them out... and post any comments...

I'm working on getting the guestbook working, but I can't get the Tripod.co.uk code to work... I'm gonna try an alternate method if it continues to fail.. In the meantime, any suggestions would be nice!

Well, it's 2:08 AM... I've got school tomorrow... and I'm tired...... thank GOD for the holidays! I can't bear much more!

Signing off for tonight,
-Jeff

EDIT: Maybe not just yet... I just realized that the scrollbar looks god-awful... oh well... should be fixed tomorrow...
g'night!

2. Well, I'm a lazy person... I just used the Auto-Thumbnail stuff in Frontpage for the wallpaper preview, I may redo it in the future. And thanks for your comments!!!
3. Most of the shots are my own... the occaisonal one is from my parents.... most of them were taken on crappy 2 megapixel camera... However, for a brief period I had access to my dad's business camera, which was 4 megapixels...
4. Well... what a coincidence!!! I'll keep that in mind!!

EDIT: Well, the scrollbar now should be fixed... Also, I've replaced my old userpic & minipic... The userpic is based on the photo that I was originally going to use for the layout... but I like the one I have now better!

Games the majority seem to like that I don't:
- Pretty much any first-person shooter game... I never really got into the genre.
- Strategy games, ala Starcraft... there was this huge Starcraft phase last year in my school. I managed to get a hold of a copy of the game, tried it, but disliked it... the same goes for Warcraft... (They're just not my type)

Games the majority seem to dislike (i may be wrong), but I enjoy:

- Sim City Series (3000 and later)...

WOW! ONE MIND!!!
I have not tried all of the expansion packs for The Sims, but I have tried the Deluxe Edition & The Sims 2... while it took a long time to get going, I kinda got hooked for a while... Great games...

As for the Tony Hawk games, I have both THPS3 and THUG2 for PC. Perhaps my favorite games I own for the PC. (I recently had a blast ROYALLY KICKING MY BROTHER'S ASS in the 2-Player mode... in Trick attack, I must have beat him 500,000 to 300,000! And in the Horse Mode, well, he was called a "DonVitoToenail" more than once... )

Pretty cool concept you have there... keep it up!

As for the three card areas mentioned by Karadur, would it be possible to allocate some of the area there for a coin counter, showing the number of remaining coins per level? Or do you have some other system for a coin counter or another purpose for the extra space?

Another question: when you obtain 100 coins in the level, do you still get a 1-Up? It'd be a bit rediculus, especially since this would result in a live-per-level.

Looking forward to a release,
-Jeff

Well... I have never played it on the NES, but I do own it for the GB. I did a quick search, and they're pretty much the same game.

I bought this game used (no box, no manual, just the cart) so I had no clue what to expect... but I certaintly wasn't expecting a puzzle game...

After a few plays, I began to get into it. It's not exactly my favorite, but I still pick it up and play it occasionally, when I'm bored...

Quoted for emphasis.

This was the second SNES game I ever played, next to SMW. I never owned an SNES, but my brother occassionally rented one, and usually got to games as well. (great service, that was... too bad the convience store still doesn't do that).
Rydain said it best when he said that this game has a "Metric Assload of Secrets". (to say the least) Half of the secrets of the game I never discovered until playing it with an emulator. I didn't even know about the "Behind the Stairs" secret. And what's cool is, every time I play it, I nearly always discover something I missed. I wouldn't be suprised if I'm still missing a lot of 'em.
GREAT GAME!

Posted on 01-15-05 06:13 AM, in Like it or not, here comes a recovery tool for locked ROMs. Link
Just adding my two cents:
[RANT]
First of all: Great work Parasyte.
Second: I can see how some of you are worried about your level secrets being revealed, or elements of your hack being stolen. Regarding the level secrets: so what? Unless the person blabs the secrets around, I think it's really no big deal. It will only affect the gaming experience for that one person. And for the stealing: yeah, it's now definitly a possibility. But I really hope that we, and any future rom hacker, will have the sensability NOT take someone else's work and call it their own. It's plagiarism. And we learn (or should have learned) at a very young age that plagiarism is wrong.
And if it does happen, well, I guess we can just do our best to watch for such activities, and attempt to prevent them before they get out of hand.

Remember now, it's not really Parasyte's fault if the stealing occurs. He may have provided a tool that can be used for illegitimate purposes, but it also can have perfectly legitimate uses as well. A LOT of programs are like that... one example is CD Backup software. The software can be used exclusivly for backups, yet some people will use it to make illegitimate copies. It's not the software or the creator of the software that's to blame, I feel the blame should fall on the people using it for the illegitimate purposes.
[/RANT]

I personally don't plan on using this to reveal secrets of a hack or steal . I will keep it in case of an accidental locked hack. Mind you, I'll still keep a backup.

Posted on 01-28-05 07:14 AM, in An early demo of my hack Link
wow...
I just finished it... and... I HATE YOU...
I don't know what I was more frustrated with, the difficulty of the boss, or my own SMW gaming skills (or lack thereof)! Might I suggest:
a) increasing the time limit. b) decreasing the length of the box.
c) increasing the "5-hit pause". d) decreasing the number of fireballs.
Although, I must admit... it's impressive what you have done.

I agree that the level design is not the best, but this is an early demo. A little time and effort, and I bet that it'll improve. (I did like the most airship portion. Good job!)

The added sprites and ASM are pretty spectacular in my opinion, but as Kyouji Craw said, the seem to be there with no real purpose. The switch from cape to racoon is great. It's nice to see a fresh change such as this. Although, the physics seem to be a bit off... but I'm just picky.

Added graphics, well, there's not much in this department. However, I don't think that graphics are the main showcase of this hack!

Keep up the good work, and looking forward to future releases!
