I've been experimenting with layer 2 and getting the hang of it before I start putting these type of levels in my hack. I've gotten the horizontal levels pretty much taken care of, but when I try to do vertical levels layer 2 just disapears and its nowhere to be found. anyone know what im doing wrong?

I do have it set as a vertical level, and its setting are layer 2 with interact. I can place the layer 2 fine and dandy in lunar magic, but when I play it in game it doesnt show up EDIT: I got fed up with it and just copied a level that had the properties i wanted in its place. Then I just changed the gfx to my liking. seems to work now... (edited by Vortex on 12-03-04 12:51 PM) |

freewebs dont like direct linking. As for your hack, it needs work. The levels are short and bare. Wheres the koopas/goombas/rexes/ect? All you have are pipes with pirahna plants. There are some (not many though) gfx issues as well. There are lots of points in the level where you just walk around doing nothing. The piranah plant going downward has a black sqaure for a body. plus the smb3-goal thing at the end of the first level is a squished rex. One last thing, the background in the second level (underground one) is conflicting with the forground (same-ish colors) I say lengthen the levels, add more enemies, and darken the background of the second level. Thats just starting suggestions though. (edited by Vortex on 12-12-04 07:54 PM) (edited by Vortex on 12-12-04 07:55 PM) |

you could always just make a teleport block when you hit it you go to another level with the same characteristics just different gfx, and the starting point is where you put the block in the other level. Unless you want instantanous gfx change i dont know. edit: actaully my idea sounds kind of interesting for my hack. the blur effect would be the level transforming (maybe have a level which has a dark and light world like in some of the zelda games). Only problem is enemies would go back to their starting point, instead of seeing them where you saw them last. (edited by Vortex on 12-15-04 08:36 PM) |

and good luck. Most likely you'll be like 'wtf'. Takes some time but once you get used to it its all a peice of cake. Plus I recommend yy-chr for gfx editing. Tile Layer pro doesnt paste gfx properly for me, and like likes to crash on me as well.

perhaps the pipe is too close to screen 01? I don't know, I've never had that problem. But my guess is that it borders screen 01 so close mario actually enters that screen by going up the pipe or whatnot. Or maybe the pipe is stretched into screen 01 and it doesnt like that. Once again this is just speculation, I have no idea if these factors play a part in it
