Originally posted by Chickenlump I don'T think that post is sarcastic. These are indeed very helpful hints My tips goes as follows: Remember, the last line is invisible, so don't annoy the player with "invisible" ledges on some places and holes on other places Exceptions would be additional/hidden levels with hints and NO blind guesses (!) Try to invent something new in every level; the way DKC2 was set up I liked. Like a level introduces a new custom block, while the level is used to "train" the usage of it in more and more difficult combinations. The same should go with enemies; in the harder parts you actually begin to combine them, so the game never will be boring; thus challenging and expecting something new in every level |

A good example of Sonic tilesets usage was done in FPI's TSRP2 hack. The watered fortress somewhere was great, although it was very hard Without any screenshot I won't vote here; it is not that easy to create good Sonic style levels in SMW,, so I want to see at least a piece of cake of it (edited by Gandalf The Grey on 05-05-04 07:18 AM) |

Probably the majority of those people suck in real life, so they want to act "cool" on the board. I anyway don't understand what's up to be a moron on a board. Whatever, some things cannot be explained or are just too weird Being honest and following the rules should be similar like outside the web |

Currently reading "A Storm of Swords", part 3 from GRR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series. Quite very good fantasy, I read the prequels "A Game of Thrones" and "A Clash of Kings" before, in the English version because I like original storys and this improves my English. When I'm done, it goes on with "A Feast of Crows" Edit: A book's quality is independent from its number of pages in general (edited by Gandalf The Grey on 05-06-04 09:59 AM) |

Never fought seriously. There were people who liked to provoke everyone, but I cannot get pissed off of that

I'll go with the Odin summon from FF9. The scene where he rides the way to battlefield is very nice and fluently animated; slicing through all enemies as well |

Too weird But nothing can beat the adevertising spots/flash movies of Japan's "Hi-Ho" company; the movies are cute and the song won't be forgotten that fast : http://users.rcn.com/mpolazzo/hiho.htm |

RPG Maker Quartier-Forum The second active board is this one, surprising link, uh German Broodwar forum, posting very rarely there. Google.de When I'm not at home to access my Thunderbird mail client, I'm logging in on GMX.de to check my mails. The rest is different, mostly I'm searching pages using Google, sometimes visiting smaller pages, but not regularly; so I won't mention them here |

Even if it sounds dumb: Check your date. Some time ago I was wondered why a board didn't refresh automatically and I had to hit F5 when I still used Internet Explorer. The mistake was by me, somehow I changed the year in the system block back by one The second possibilty was already mentioned by Kitten Yiffer and ErkDog ... it will be the browser's cache in most of these cases/symptoms ... |

This can be troublesome, since it is not that easy to edit Mario's graphics; also Baby Mario does not have all the character poses what Mario could do in SMW, e. g. spinning while doing a spin jump, while shooting a fireball, flying up into the air etc. But as for Yoshi ... simply don't place any question block with a Yoshi inside and avoid placing dotted eggs or (Baby) Yohis everywhere |

Okay, the stuff around of the grey box I'm posting from is as follows: There are ~90 manga in my bookshelf, plus dozens of regular books, my stereo, a 51 cm TV set, my old PSone is just connected (playing FF VIII currently ), above the TV is the DVD player plus the DVDs at the sides of it There is a huge tree-like plant here too, then a birdcage with two budgies which are far more accurate in waking me than my alarm clock in the morning Somewhere in the room are my audio CDs ... well there should be inside the CD rack ... they should, yes |

M'eh, I'm one of the few people who is not using the major ISP T-Com but a private provider As for me, I'm using ISDN only, but my connection never got stuck, mostly it was my fault when it didn't work (Zone Alarm shut down my Internet connection until the next reboot or I was too fast while connecting and overwrote the password with the wrong one when attempted to connect), messengers work fine all ... but MSN in Trillian ... it disconnects me after less than two minutes I already tried alternate messengers; Miranda IM might be good, but it crashes for me. Since I anyway don't have too much contacts on MSN but in AIM, I'll rather use Trillian since I like it much more than any other IM |

Usually it is hard to get a nice sig image from someone you don't know (yet), even when you repay him/her with the name in the sig image or the mentioned staff post on a smaller board (which probably no one knows and what is pretty a very unfitting type of "crediting" for an image ). If you want to have that banner, use the proper thread Hiryuu linked too, and giving advice and AT LEAST a ROUGH layout/scheme like the motive, the set of colors etc. should be inside it. Don't ask me, I don't know too much of that (like my crappy sig banner ... but I like it ) |

I didn't like Yoshi's Story too. There might be nice effects like these sword egdes/blades in one level, but on the other hand there simply is not much change or that genius level design. The egg shots didn't reflect when hitting a wall like in Yoshi's Island, so a nice strategic element already was killed Then there is no much other thing what Kitten Yiffer mentioned. The orderr of levels and the levels themselves you play depend how many melons you sniffed and found. This is usually not that bad, but in comparison to the simple but ass-kicking 100 points level-system in YI, this is worth far less Once you saw every level in Yoshi's Story, there's pretty not much to do left ... except the bonus Yoshis the game will rest in the cupboard forever, unlike Yoshi's Island where its really beautiful level-design and replay value made it playing it later again |

Uh, the worst punishment for the virus programmer, assumed the article is no hoax, would be locking the guilty person into a nice cell, thus placing a brand new computer on the other side of the iron bars and make all people granting access to it but him

I already got offers for enlarging breasts I don't pay any attention to spam. Luckily Mozilla Thunderbird has a really good junk system to filter out mails like these. Once you trained the client how to sort out unwanted mails, it works mostly alone and does its work very well Paying attention to and discussing spam is just the aim the sender of these junk mails want; ignoring and deleting them might be the only way. Even when one of ten thousend people click on the link inside a spam mail ... it is worth sending them for the spammers; they get the attention they want and can sell their products etc. whatever they want (edited by Gandalf The Grey on 05-10-04 09:05 AM) |

Well, usually it is easy to manipulate the sender's email address and data, so I doubt the sender used his real mail address; unless you know how to reveal it (if this is even possible). As for the content of the spam mail, yes, it's besides any ethic and moral issue. It's the same with pornography with children. I also would like, sorry, hacked off all cocks of those people who are spreading these things around the internet; as well as for the "vendors" of those images as the "customers" [...] I wonder why people didn't already did that before with this kind of propagande (probably already longer, but not in this way I ever have seen); using the current instable situation in Iraq for tnemselves and trying to convince people for their own way. The only thing what helps, is to think about messages like these ... (edited by Gandalf The Grey on 05-10-04 11:11 AM) |

Uh, anyway a web dialer cannot work when you're having a connection without using a modem or an ISDN card; except you'll have one inside your computer which is installed right and plugged. The connection data of DSL cannot be overwritten until now And it's not "Speziell IQ-Test" but should be "Spezieller IQ-Test". This surely looks very seriously what that page "offers" (this should show enough signs of the sort that page )... also the terms and condition box is very small and holds only three lines of text, tactics to get the user think "Oh, I don't want to scroll through that f****ing box and go to the test!!111oneoneon", so they probably want some people making not reading that there's a dialer trying to install |

Even the common boards like phpBB usually don't have a bannned-per-forum and not -per-board feature implemented by default There it can be done via user groups (like on phpBB or VBB for example), I think it would not be that hard for someone with SQL knowledge to implement this via PMA or editing the .php files manually. But on the other hand this is not a must-have. The old warn sytem also could apply here; because I doubt a per-forum ban would be useful; the old warn-system also could help, when given from the Story Forum-mod, in that case Kirbynite |
