I haven't used allegro before, so I wouldn't really be able to help you. I'm going to move this thread to the programming forum since members who have experience with allegro will more likely visit that forum. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

My favorite RPG is Earthbound. I rented it when it came out and I bought it the day after. I liked pretty much everything about the game, and the thing I liked the most was how it was different then all the other RPGs. Final Fantasy VI and Suikoden 2 would be close seconds. I would actually place all 3 as my favorites, but if I only have to chose one, I'll go with Earthbound. |

This thread was bumped by 3 months by Alonguy, but since this is the Game Creation Centre and KsoftFusion is still active even though he doesn't really post, I'm going to leave it open. Just make sure to check the date of the last post in a thread before replying to it. |
Anyway, last time I saw this thread I wasn't able to try it since I was at college, and I guess I forgot about it after that. I tried it now and I have to say it is pretty well done. The only thing I noticed was that when I get hit by an enemy it doesn't seem to do anything at all.

4. How do you make an enemy visible instead of appearing out of nowhere? |
I'll assume you mean that instead of getting random battles, you'll see the enemies on the map and when you collide with them it will start a battle. If that's what you mean, then all you have to do is put no random battles for the map, and then in the map put some events with the graphic of an enemy, and then do that when you collide with the event it starts a battle. (One of the event commands will allow you to start a battle, just look around) 5. How do you get the boss visible? How do you only fight him once? To get the boss visible, just do the same thing as I said for number 4. Now to make you only fight him once, all you have to do is make a second page to the event of the boss. The first page will be the one that starts the battle, and the second page could either be a graphic of the dead boss, or nothing at all. In the second page, set the requirements so that a switch needs to be turned on, and then in the first page, just add a switch operation after you make a battle start which will turn on the switch which you used in the second page. Since the switch will be turned on, the next time the game loads the event it will load it as the second page. (edited by Jack-Al on 07-02-05 10:02 PM)

I personally find Super Metroid to be the best one. I have played all of the metroid games, but Super Metroid is the only one which I've finished multiple times. It was a somewhat simple game, but it was and is still interesting. |
I would probably put Metroid Prime in second place. It brought a new view to the Metroid series which was also interesting. (edited by Jack-Al on 07-05-05 09:36 PM)

"You will be transported to the nearest savepoint.", and then nothing happens. Hehe. I played it a few times and always died on the first or second battle. It's pretty interesting. I haven't found any bugs except that it doesn't do anything when you lose a battle, but that must be because you haven't done that yet. |

Do you have any ideas yourself? I think it's always interesting to see something original and different than the default systems in RPG Maker XP. One type of battle system that could be interesting and that I have thought of working on would be a Tactics system. A system that allows you to control a set of characters in a way similar to the war battles in Suikoden 2. |

If they would teach this in school, they would have to teach so many other things as well. Learning how to use RPG Maker 2003 can be hard sometimes if you haven't ever used an RPG Maker before, but it should eventually come to you. |

I think the encounters are good like this so that it's a mix of styles and not just an Earthbound style game. It's a good thing that you're simply working on the functionality of the game before working on the areas and the story. |

The different menues seem pretty well organised.. This would be interesting to see once it's completed. Do you have a story already, or are you simply working on the functionality before working on the story? |

Your game seemed interesting as well AlexAR, but for some reason it crashes after the welcome message. You should look into that, or maybe it's just something with my computer. |
![]() As for your game Dcahrakos, it would be interesting to see screenshots of the other things in the game. (edited by Jack-Al on 07-10-05 12:56 AM)

There were a few bugs, but it's well done anyway. There is potential in this. The things which you've already gotten to work only need a little improvement, and once you finish those you could easily do more. |

Yeah, it does sound interesting, but it would also be good to get more information about it. Hopefully you'll post screenshots soon so we can see what it looks like. |

Well, atleast it seems like something which is progressing well, and that is a good thing. It looks interesting though. Once you complete it you could always add even more characters just for the fun of it. |

It looks pretty interesting. It reminds me of Destroy All Humans, but in 2D. The only thing I noticed is that the background is the same in all the outside screenshots. It looks like it represents the night, but maybe a few others things in the background would add more to the environment. Besides that it looks very promising. The CG screenshots look a little strange, but they have a 2D feel to them which fits really well with the rest of the game. |

For a second there, I thought it was the same thread. |
![]() It's actually not a bad game though CheesePie. If you would have put some sort of way to keep a score then it would be even better. I liked the random picture flashes too.

The only problem I find with RPG Maker XP is that scripting is required to get some of the features that were already in the previous RPG Makers. However, alot of people have already made scripts so it might not be too hard to find one. |

Another Acmlm RPG, hmm. I think if you really want to complete this you should keep it simple. There have been like 50 Acmlm RPGs in the past, but none of them have ever been completed. |

Originally posted by Bush Hater I exaggerated the number; it's closer to 10 Acmlm RPGs, and that would be ever since the board opened. I didn't feel like finding the threads for all of them, but here's a few of them: http://board.acmlm.org/thread.php?id=714 http://acmlm.overclocked.org/board/thread.php?id=17398 http://acmlm.overclocked.org/board/thread.php?id=21454 Anyway, to answer a previously asked question. One way to take screenshots is by pressing the print screen button on your keyboard, and then you just have to open a program like MS Paint and paste the screen which you took earlier with the print screen button.
