I'm trying to play Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 on a computer, but the screen is all black. I can only hear the sound. I even tried installing the latest patch. The computer has WinXP, no service packs installed, and DirectX 9.0c installed.

About Bowser, the ROM is probably corrupted. Try copying the level to another ROM, and see if you still die.

This hack looks good. But some of the palettes could be tweaked a bit.

I changed the byte in the NES header to expand PRG-ROM space for my SMB3 hack, and expanded the file size, but a grey screen appears every time I try to play, like a blank ROM.

To add to the notes, $500 in RAM is where the sprite buffer starts.

I have lost interest in hacking SMB3. A lot of bugs have been fixed since the previous release. Up to world 5-3 has been done. I unfortunately have no new screens.

http://www.freewebs.com/ringodoggie/mchron.rar

Also, world 2-2, on the 2nd screen, the game freezes for an unknown reason.

Your GFX looks good, the goombas, Bowser, blooper, fire, coral, and font in particular, but I don't think metal blocks or wood blocks should be used for terrain. Other than that, looks good .

I plan to shift the status bar to the bottom of the screen. Would it be easy to shift layer 3?

Think it's possible to just change layer 3's position to make the top 'wrap around' to the bottom?

[edit] Actually, the game just keeps the scorebar tiles in RAM and DMAs them into layer 3's tilemap. It would probably be really easy to change, just find what address it DMAs to and change it. You couldn't use layer 3 water though.

What do I use to view the RAM?

Don't play the tank and battleship levels. The GFX is screwed up, and may cause ceizures.

BTW, I moved my hack from cancelled to extended ice because I don't want to give up on it.
