I just use Media Player Classic. I downloaded the WMP9 codecs so I can use audio/video for that. I haven't checked recently to see if they provide WMP10 codecs. | |||

Nah, that's nowhere near close to being Windows XP Crippled Edition. That title goes to Windows XP Starter Edition. Wikipedia quote: Windows XP Starter Edition (also called "XP Lite", not to be confused with Shane Brooks's XPLite (http://www.litepc.com/)) is a lower-cost version of Windows XP available only in Asia, including Russia. It is similar to Windows XP Home, but has some features removed and some limitations added: display resolution can only be up to 800x600 pixels, only three applications may be run at the same time, any application may have no more than three windows open, PC-to-PC home networking and printer sharing is not available and only a single user account is allowed. Added to the operating system are localized help features, country-specific wallpapers and screensavers and certain pre-configured settings to make it easier for novices to use. You going to complain about WMP being taken out instead of all that stuff? |

Actually, I know someone who got the Starter Edition... and when he ran TweakNT on it to make it "Home", the limitations were gone, but the "extra" programs are indeed gone. I hope that sentence makes sense. I can't be bothered to fix it. |

No! Not QuickTime and RealOne! That's even worse! (edited by Kieran on 02-24-05 07:10 AM) |

I can tolerate Real for audio but I don't use RealPlayer itself. (Lots of places still use Real streaming like the BBC's website, strangely enough - although they've been trying to phase in WMP for a while.) |
