I was trying to locate the thread that Mikeyk made. He posted a link to a small demo he made that contained the poison mushroom. And it came out of the question block! I couldn't find the thread tho. So if you want to search for the thread, go ahead. Or maby Mikeyk may post the demo he made in this thread. Edit: The mushroom is a regular mushroom replacement, but the original mushroom is still there. The poison mushroom is sprite 17 I think...just search for the thread. A Hex Editor Edit: Well, technically Gold Finger is an Editor for Data and Instruction (otherwise Chris wouldn't be using it,... unless he suddly learned how to program ). But anyway, making specifically an Instruction Editor would be more work for whoever wrote the program, because they would have to make the program display to you only the Instructions in the program/game that you opened, and not display anything that is beign Interpreted as Data). In other words, Data can have the same Hex, Bin, Dec etc. value as an Instruction, but if it's not being interpreted as an Instruction, then the Instruction for that value will not be excecuted when read, and will be used as a meaningless value (but the value is then given a meaning by the Routine that is interpreting the Data,... well, it's not given a meaning, but it then becomes understood that that value will represent something) Ok, I don't know why I just bothered to explain all that, but oh well,... Oh no , I meant that a Hex Editor is a good tool for Programming (but yea, Gold Finger is a Hex Editor with some Game Hacking Specific options added to it) | |||

Couldn't you set a Goomba to have the "Can't Be Jumped On" attribute and make it look like a poison mushroom? It wouldn't be entirely like one (not disappearing when you touch it) but pretty close. | |||

It could also be fireballed, it wouldn't go the right speed, and hitting it with a cape temporarily disables it instead of making it jump. In short, no. | |||

Isn't there an option to disable Fireballing and Whacking with a Cape ? If not, then I'm pretty sure it there was Bit that could be set (by the Addresses supplied by Mikey) to disable it (when I was looking at this stuff in a Hex Editor). But the thing is, if you disable the fireballs killing it, they'll simply extinguish themselves when they hit instead of going through it like they're supposed to. | |||
