The way I see it, if it is ever fully emulated and commercial games are playable, it will be annoying. Think about the buttons the pad and the touch screen. You have to do all that. You let go of a key to use your mouse, bam you die.

It'll depend on the game though - not all of them use the touch screen the same way. It's necessary in some games, used often in others and is optional/not used in the rest.

Some people are dexterious enough to use a gamepad and mouse at the same time though.

He's got a point, though, but don't worry. Eventually, developers will take a closer look at the DS and realize it has these nifty buttons you can use to do stuff instead of having to use the touch screen for everything.

looks cool...

hyperds was leaked, so the coder says he isnt gonna release a public version anywhere in the near future, so that really sucks.

...can anyone shine a bright why devolopers feels so hit whenever a binary of their emulator/game/program/whatever get's leaked... even if it's planned to be released for free later on?

Sure, I'd probably be rather pissed if someone leaked a copy of my program, but why should everyone else suffer?

Becuse that's how moody certain programmers are after all. :/

Heh, no any offical games running yet. Not like I expect any, and the current demos shows off stuff that even a GBA could do. :/

Trapster - How can you lose money on a FREEWARE venture? I'd like to know the answer to that one.

Funny how the download page doesn't work on the iDeaS page... If it's real, then it's certainly in good shape for a first release with some demos running. I'm guessing that the Tetris demo is the benchmark at the moment.

There is a few emulators that you need to pay for thought, but they aren't many of thoose... and they aren't that good either. no$gba was one of thoose, althought it was sold as debugging software, not as a emulator. Thought they did release a free version last year, but with the debugging thingy stripped out.

NO$GBA is probably the second best GBA emulator out there behind VBA, but it has VBA beat in sound. At least on my machine.

I still want to know how come you think something that's non-profit can turn a profit.

So, first of all, I have to say: NO! Emulators (or at least the ones for gaming machines) have hardly ever been sold (ok, lets forget bleem, but epsxe is better anyway...). So I don't think any programmer does really expect a secure income by doing such a thing.

Another fact is: due to the quick release and the fast improvement of GBA-emulators (coming along with flash-carts etc.) there are a lot of very good GBA-development kits on the net that are available for free now. As Nintendo (Sega, Sony, M$, etc.) didn't release their own dev-tools for their systems that's the only way to really develop homebrew software for such a thing. And I have up to now never seen a gaming-machine that can be programmed that easy like the GBA (wish there had been as goog tools for the SNES back then... *sigh*).

So early emulation doesn't have to be BAAAAAAAD in general.

sure, i just think it's worth pointing out that for every dedicated homebrew developer there are about 10,000 punk ass warez kids who don't feel like getting a job and contribute nothing but a myriad of '1's and 'z's to the dismay of all.

and while the disctinction isn't always a decisive and fundamental affair, there certainly is a difference between enjoying a platform/hardware set no longer in production and basically just stealing money from companies currently producing. like in the instance of the GBA and obviously the lame ass DS kiddiez.

Ok.Got your point and I agree. All those warez kids just downloading the games to pirate them are some kind of crazy idiots (and YES, I actually know there are more of them than developers....). But anyway, just wanted to make clear there was an advantage of early emulation.

VBA is better in all areas expect for two.

Speed, NO$GBA is faster and I heard about people running the DOS version on a Pentium at pretty good speeds.

Multiplayer, or well. A link feature, you can start severeal copies of the same game in the same emulator and then play a linked game... on the same computer thought. Good luck sharing a keyboard if you don't have a gamepad.

Multiplayer on real GBA's is tons of times better anyway.

And if the game's faster, it can be in sync, therefore the music is smoother. So there.
