I'm just curious as to what everyone thinks of the current season.

Personally, I enjoy it, and not just because "Doctor" Tommy Oliver is back. The main teenagers actually seem...human to me (at least a lot more than Ninja Storm anyway).

I have not watched anything to do with Power Rangers since I was six...wow, what a team they were though.

I caught on to the fact that they were horrible, and bailed out before everyone else figured that out.

I didn't know Power Rangers were still on

It got lame after the first season. I haven't watched it since then.

I'm stunned that it still keeps going. I'd have to guess that they have a crapload of stock footage from Japan that they still have to use.

Hah, it's not like they did any real stunts anyways. just cheesy smoke effects and basic stock kung fu type stuff.

As long as the japanese keep making SUPER RANDOMWORDHERERANGER or whatever the original version is called.... Saban will grab it and turn it into the next season of power rangers. And somehow make it related to the past season.

i wonder how much of the new series is based off the japanese stuff...since well, the original power rangers stuff in japan occured in 1975 and there have been power rangers for 10+ consecutive years...so, i doubt the stuff of recent is actually from japan...

anyways, for those of you who are interested, here is a history of power rangers in NA Power Rangers in NA history

After watching Ninja Storm all the way through and Dino Thunder, I have to admit that since Disney took over production of the Power Ranger series, it has become what many of my online friends call "A foray into the more intelligant PR".

Which is kinda true since I've seen it. Lothor, the enemy for PR Ninja Storm was the most human enemy one could ask for. Some of his quotes included "Why did I think things could be done right the first time?" along with such as the following :

Zurgane : Sir, I don't think we should be celebrating our victory just yet.
Lothor : Zurgane, c'mere. There's a few steps to conqouring the planet. Step 1 : Take out the opponents headquarters. Step 2 : Remove the oppositions leader. Step 3 : Crush them horribly and quickly. We'll do that together; it'll be fun.

And I have to admit, he's the first PR enemy since PRiS to fire from orbit to leave nothing standing.

I don't like it that much...But then again, I haven't been following the plot too much lately, either. But the show at least looks watcheable.

I could never figure out who in their right mind could watch Power Rangers. It's always the same thing every time (or at least it was; don't know about the new episodes). The evil leader would create a big bad monster that would terrorize the town. The Power Rangers would come to the rescue. When the monster was almost defeated the evil leader would make the monster grow to super-size. The Power Rangers would get in their robot vehicles and form a large robot (kind of like a cheap Voltron knock-off) and proceed to smite the monter. It all got to be quite sickening after awhile.

That's the sentai formula alright.

But what else is offered? Unique stories, crazy characters, and in this season, a return of a legend. And in case you didn't hear, Doug Sloan, one of the original head honchos of Power Rangers back in the day (I forgot what his position was), is back in the drivers seat and has so far delivered great episodes of Dino Thunder.

I just wish new episodes would be shown at 9:30 instead of 8:30 on Saturdays...I love my sleep!

I've always loved Power Rangers - everyone seems to think it's stupid, but I was never there for the stereotypes or the story or whatever. For me, it was always about the gigantic "Monster of the Day" growing to ginormous propotions ("Magic wand! Make my monster GROOOOOOWWWW!") and then the Megazord appearing and beating the crap out of a guy in a costume.

I cried when the Megazord got destroyed in the first season.

During the first season, the Power Rangers pwned royally. My friends and I loved everything about it way back when. Then we grew up. Ah, the carefree days of youth...

Perhaps I'm wrong, but it just seems like it's all one big marketing ploy in the years since, and I'm surprized that it's still on the air. Then again, if they bring back the guy who did it back in the day, I can see why new generations are getting hooked again.

My opinion of this season is the same as the last billion seasons starting from that "Turbo"season.

It sucks monkey balls.
