Just one question about these, what client should I use to actually read them? I've tried Firefox with the Sage extension, Thunderbird, and RSSOwl. None of them could read the feeds. Thunderbird and RSSOwl could understand the General Chat's RSS feeds, but none of the other forums (or threads) actually worked, all bringing up parsing errors.

So what client should I use?

I can subscribe to this thread, I can not subscribe to Help/Suggestions through this thread, I have to stand in the forum, and then my reader says that there's some errors in it but it'll try to fix it. And after that it works fine.

I use FeedDemon as my reader and "Feed your reader" as extension to Firefox to start feeddemon when click on the lil RSS icon.

Sage works fine for me, you just have to press the magnifying glass to discover feeds on the current tab your browsing...

Nope, Sage doesn't seem to work in the ROM hacking forum at all. It works in this forum though. Which is rather odd to say the least.

If a feed seems to be failing, go to the Feed Validator, paste in the url of the feed and see if it's valid. If it's not valid, send me a PM with the feed url, url to the test results and also paste in the test results to be safe. This will help debugging it.

I've successfully tested feeds with Firefox's Live Bookmarks function, FeedDemon, NetNewsWire (OS X) and Thunderbird, and the initial feed code was crafted to always pass validation and follow the standard, but seemingly I might have missed something.

Edit: Okay, the problem's been localized. In both places it was about ampersands, of all things. Character entities in HTML and XML look like this: & or . But HTML also has a lot of extra shorthand entities already defined: for example é becomes é. This doesn't fly well with XML parsers, which is the thing that's between reading the file into memory and figuring out how to use the data - it translates the data into a form your feed reader of choice can understand. So we have to use numeric entities instead. The other case was just thread titles not being run through the "replace weird characters with entities" filter in the first place. I'll fix both bugs at the same time, but I'll have to come up with a good way of converting to numeric entities instead.

I use FeedReader. And I also seem to be having trouble with some forum RSS feeds. For example, General Discussion and Programming work, but the Help / Suggestions forums doesn't, gives me a 'Feed is empty' error.

I meant to say é. 160 is the non-breaking space. If you put it between two words that aren't meant to be broken up into two different rows, the line wrapping will respect that. Would be used for example between Acmlm's and board, or between the 0s in a long number using Swedish formatting (1 000,50 = 1,000.50 in US formatting).
