Anyone right now in a programming class that is SO strict, that they will call you talking with someone about code cheating?

I am, and it's not great. It's a java class, BTW (first time programming).

Sounds like my Network Administration teacher, sort of. She doesn't let us talk about anything NOT related to class. But not being able to talk about stuff related to class? That seems strict.

In my class we trade programs with each other and our teacher never notices. Of course, lately he's been accidentally GIVING us all the programs cause he saved them on the school PCs.

well, if that is HS, then that is understandable...you'd never see stuff like that at a 4-year university...or would you

My Comp. Sci. teacher isn't that strict, but he has a fairly large amount of knowledge about programming, so he's cool. What's NOT cool is when he's out, we usually get the 'Purple Sub' as our substitute. HOLY SHIT. She's also called Miss Bitch. I'm serious, she hasn't a clue what she's doing, she ALWAYS wears purple, all the time, annoys us, UGH! All schools have this sub.

Anyway, if the teacher accidently uploads a finished file on the network on accident, when it's program check time, he makes us code the program from scratch in like 5 minutes. It's cool! (The one time he did this, I was the first to finish, but then, I'm like the top student in the class, afaik.)

I have a Java class. I don't like how we would always be tested on stuff like knowledge and facts about things from the book, and having to write stuff, instead of doing actual code more. It's my fault though I guess, I don't study enough.

I go to a certain college I'd like to leave unnamed right now. I right now have issues with the place because of its strict policy.

I once took a C++ programming class back in HS. What a joke! I read a book over the summer to have a head start and I knew more than the teacher when I started! She would always just copy the code from the text book and then make a comment like, "I'm not sure what's going on here, but this is what the textbook says to do." What a lamer she was!

All we have is QBasic... which is so easy I want to throw up...

But the good thing about it is the teacher... likes me... and since I'm the first one done with all his assignments... he shows me other stuff (like packet-sniffing, stuff like that) and I'm helping him build a computer... so it's all good....

Nope. Unless there is an "test".

Heck I did go around and helped other people in the Delpi class. I found it so easy that it got boring.

Lucky bastards, all of you... I have to teach myself everything on traineeship; all I get at school is stupid HTML, and not even in a proper way.

I didn't get ANY programming knowledge from High School. Not even HTML or something simple like that. Had to teach myself PHP and HTML on my own.

If that was a reply to my post: I'm already in college for 2 years.

I didn't get any programming language classes in high school either...but I was able to teach myself HTML. Java is a whole 'nother ball game, though. Why are the teachers so against students helping each other? I just don't get it...

My point in the previous post was that I have no helpful classes at my school. I've learned all on myself.
