Note: I know next to nothing about how the boards works, but it's better to tell and be laughed at than be quiet and allow it to be used (if it works, that is).

As shown by the link in Hyperhacker's layout, it's possible to make the board belive that you are IP banned, thanks to the "?ipbanned=1" that it adds to the URL. However, if somebody is IP banned, what if he/she adds "?ipbanned=0" to the address when he/she is trying to access the board? Would that allow him/her to bypass the IP ban?

No, it's just a page. Your ipban is stored in a table which is checked at every page on the board. Modifying the URL does nada.

Wouldn't work.

The ipbanned=0 in the adress bar would be overwritten by the code..

To add on, the only reason ?ipbanned=1 works is because, unless you truely are IP banned, the code won't write anything to that variable.

So, like everyone else said, it's nothing to worry about.

I brought this up once, actually. It doesn't work.

Heh, ironic that I would come across this now. I'm currently dealing with another site who thought their crappy implementation of an IP ban could do anything. (And has a really slow Email server. )
