Well, although that board is usually neat in some of its features, I think this little enhancement might be good considering larger threads
A small sample how it might look with the standard phpbB icon:

If you clicked on that arrow, the thread would direct you to the last post on the proper page. Pretty convenient, if you are on /index.php and can access the most recently replied thread conveniently. Of course it could be also implemented in viewforum.php and I think that feature could be quite handy.

Yeah, from what I've heard this could be implemented relatively easily because 'mark forum read' just stores the time you marked each forum, so it would just have to check for the first post made after that time and link there..

I like the idea actually, considering there is alot of sitations is not on a new page and you want to see the latest replies.

It makes things more effective around here, thought I want to hear one reason why it shouldn't be added. Apart from laziness...

Althought to be honest, I actually read most of the new replies though newreply.php.

That's actually a really good idea. There's only one other thing I would like to see added, and that's would tell you what the last thread posted in was. Although, if that was to be put in, the 'Last Post' section would take up 4 lines instead of 3, which we don't want

I think it's a good idea, so hopefully this can be put to use

Well, there is a lot of wasted space on the front page. Why not add a 6th cell, and have it be Last Thread, or something similar?

Believe me, the front page is bad enough as it is, it's -huge- on smaller resolutions (as in 4-5 lines per row, which is rediulous)

Instead, consider having the image have a title of the last thread, so that it won't take up so much room, and you can mouse over it to see the name.

What I would like, though, is link on the thread listing to go straight to newreply.php, without having to go through thread.php. When I implimented that on the old test board I had, it was a lot easier for me to post given I was on a dialup connection and could skip that entirely

Alexa, I AM on dial-up and use these arrows quite often, at least in VBBs and phpBBs.
It is a matter of question. Of course we should not add _all_ features what common boards have, but that "link to la(te)st post" is just a small thought for a little more convience.
That's also a reason why I still like the manual idea of marking threads read by hand - what fully beats automatic markers (like when you leave a phpBB to another website, all forums are read later on; I want to decide for myself what I mark read and what not).

Of course not required, but AcmlmBoards anyway suck up huge amounts of bandwidths (as said, I'm on dial-up, at least an affordable ISDN-flatrate, in about one month upgraded to DSL, and I have enabled layouts and everything)

This would be quite an awesome idea if it was actually implemented properly. On most boards it always just takes me to the most recent post in the thread, rather than the first one that was made since I last posted/read there. If this board had that I might actually start using the 'mark forum read' feature. (I really should start doing that...)

I don't know about the last thread, but another way to do the first unread post (besides the arrow link) would be to have the "NEW" image link to it.
