EDIT::
This thread will make no sense if you don't understand a bit of background, so I'd better put that in.
I originally started this thread as a joke on the SMW hacking community, who rather quickly saw that it was a hoax. Farther on, I admit the fake, and show off the screenshots for the actual game I'm working on. That starts with a bit post full of links, go look for that.

I've been working on this hack for a few months, and decided that it has come far along enough to show off and get some comments.

I'll let this screenshot do the talking.

That screenshot says pretty much nothing. Additionally, I have no clue why this is related to SMW Hacking.

What, do you think this is SMB1 or something?
I'm using those sprites becouse the graphics mode I switched it to only has four colors per tile, and I don't have enough artistic talent to make new sprites, so I just used these, which conveniently also use four colors.

No offense man, but the screen shot you have there doesn't give me any kind of idea your going for, accept maybe your going for a Final Fantasy Tactics type of game. alll you need is some spiny's on the ground moving from place to place and a Bullet bill sprites! but if your not going for that type of game what do you plan on doing with this joker ?

3D Mario on the SNES. After he said "four colors per tile" it became obvious... To me, anyway

Eh, I was thinking the Lakitu is stationary in the background, not an actual sprite. Look, it's clearly in the background based on the location of that shadow, so it's not terribly implausible.

I think it's fake too. The shadow looks too good. According to what he said, Lakitu isn't in the background, he is in the foreground, but behind where the goomba is. Because its 3D. I don't know. Where is the status bar anyway, and Mario, and anything to make us think this is real. It looks cool kinda, but it looks like something you drew hoping someday it would work.

Of course it's fake. If someone was going to hack ASM so completely they would have better luck starting over instead of using SMW to make something like this. Either Squash Monster has posted in the wrong forum or this is all one big joke.

And then there's the EVEN MORE OBVIOUS thing about this screenshot: The resolution is wrong. A SNES can't produce an image at that resolution.

Unless, against all odds, this is a bunch of screens put together, Squash Monster took the time to hack the entire screen into 3D and still use the SMW rom, and this is even a SMW hack.

Either it's a fake or it's not a SMW hack.

If the graphics can only have 4 colors per tile, why is there an extra color around the goomba's eyes and below its head? And that shadow in the background has 6 or 7 colors...

Alright, 'fess up. What exactly are you working on? It sure isn't SMW, by any stretch of the imagination...did you possibly post this in the wrong forum?

It could be fake but I don't know how the SNES works but on the GBA there are up to 4 backgrounds (depending on what mode you are in) and up to 256 sprites. You can stack background over background and probably give the illusion of more colors....
With sprites I do know you can use up to x colors per sprite and can stack one over the other quite easily...(you can also just share the color palette which is what i do personally)

The shadow of Lakitu looks fake. It is way too smooth and it seems to fit on the ground, which is technically almost impossible on SNES. Besides, there is perspective.

If this is a SMW hack, where's Mario, the status bar, or the editor window? There's nothing that proves that this was created in LM. Plus, I thought you were really busy with other things, why haven't you done more work on EggVine then?
