(changeable? Is that spelled right? )

Anyways, the title is pretty much self explanatory, can I edit the spoiler tag to my own liking? Basically I'm working on a CSS layout and realized I can't declare it.

I would like to considering the layout I'm working on is very similar to this one, only it's CSS rather than a lot of HTML, thus my post background for my text's post will be black.

People have gotten confused in the past and have even told me "You broke the Spoiler!" even though it's still in fact there, it's just ... unoticable since the spoiler tags background is black along with my post background.

Spoiler:
See?

So, was just hoping maybe I could change it ...

The tag is parsed into this:

<div style=color:black;background:black class=fonts><font color=white>
<b>Spoiler:</b></font><br>See?</div>

I don't think there's any good way to change the background within a style sheet. It may be possible to redefine the fonts class with a different background color and then set it back to normal in a style in the end of your post, but I haven't tried this, so it may very well do nothing at all. I think it would be easiest to make your own spoiler div code and copy and paste it as needed.

Erm, you DID break the spoiler. The text is white.

Maybe adding a <font color=black>...</font> around the spoiler text would help prevent people's CSS from breaking it?

Are you saying you can see the text under "Spoiler" for my post?

I can't.

And this layout is all HTML, I'm working on a CSS one.

That's really not what I'm asking though.

More than likely I'll just make some class/table I can call whenever I need to prepare use of the spoiler tag, but more than likely I won't care because I'll be to lazy to actually use it.

That's correct. You may want to look into that. Odd that it happens...

Hmm ... I see it in Firefox but not Internet Explorer Yet, if I try it in my post, it works fine in both ...

Spoiler:
What are you doing selecting this, thought I had anything good to say in here?

Not sure if it's a problem with the code itself or something in the layout messing it up (works fine with layouts off), my own layout is almost entirely based on CSS

[Changed layout]
EDITOREZ!!!!

CSS layout, HUGE difference, I know! =D

So, does it look better? Function better? I checked it in Firefox, and the spoiler doesn't show.
[/Changed layout]

Spoiler:
Dangit Acmlm, thought you had some wise words! ... =P

The irony, most of you can read that.

Well I use SBC Yahoo's browser, which is just an IE Shell so that explains why I can see it ... never thought about checking it out in Firefox.

I'll have to see if my CSS layout works fine in Firefox, I do know this layout looks rather weird and goofy in Firefox.

So yeah, it's probably something to do with my black background.

[Changed layout]
(PS this layout is very unfinished ... mind you. And ... how do I stop that "Edited by Xeogred" from showing up? ... ... if that's really allowed. )

Edit 3: Seems my top table still looks like crap, since I just took it out of my old layout.

(PS2, not Playstation 2, this post will be utterly confusing because I first posted it with my original layout, then edited and put in my CSS one, then edited my post a bit here and there, and I'm tired.)

Edit 4: Seems Firefox doesn't like style=filter:alpha(opacity=90). (This textbox should be slightly transparent.)
[/Changed layout]

I can't see anything in the spoiler section now, except for the smiley I'm using Firefox, so I think you've fixed things there I don't think there's any way to hide the smiley, unless it's possible to set the layer ordering for different things

What 'Edited by Xeogred' thing? I haven't seen the 'edit indicators' (so to call them) in a while now, so I assumed that functionality had been removed. Can you see them or something?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure there's some trick to stop them from coming up, this layout does that. (I didn't plan on it though )

Maybe they have been disabled though ... hugh?

But you can't see that in my CSS layout post? Weird, I've got the usual HR breaking my layout at the bottom then:

Heh.

Edit: Ok, I can see the Edited By Xeogred junk now in Firefox ... but couldn't in SBC / IE.

*dies*

My layouts are teh suck. =\

That's because filter isn't a css attribute, it's an IE thing that pretends to be CSS. For Firefox (and Opera, I believe) you can use a semi-transparent png as a background to achieve a similar effect, but browsers that can't handle semi-transparent pngs (such as IE) will act unpredictably and may produce funny colors. I suggest leaving the whole transparency thing alone until it's worked into a standard that everyone supports... Okay, well, at least something that will work in most browsers.

Technically, it's possible, but it isn't supposed to be. So the easy answer is you can't.

I think the board blocks filter attributes, actually. People were using them for annoying crap like glowing text. But yeah, that is an IE-only thing.

Well this is probably what I'm going to go with, I know, spare the drama.

It's not that much different, other than this actually looks the way it -should- in Firefox too now.

I'll probably put an anime / videogame character to the right of my textbox in due time, just need some ideas ...
