"The next step, he said, is to find drugs that can shut down Pokemon activity." Uhhuh. You try sedating a Feraligatr without getting your limbs mauled off and used a hold item ...but in all seriousness, it's good that they are finding cures for this kind of stuff (or are on the way to finding cures, whatever) (edited by Keitaro on 01-24-05 08:14 PM) |

Heh, my dad always said Pokemon was like a disease. I didn't think he was serious. But it'd be awesome if they cured cancer. I lost a dog to it. |

Which is worse, I wonder? Having Testicle Cancer, or having a Chansey heal your Pokeballs? |

Well, Chansey isn't too hot, but I'd definitely tag a Blissey.

She said she was level 18!Originally posted by Ziffski True, but dog genes == genes. If you know how to cure it in a human, you're damn close to knowing how to cure it in a dog. |

Hm... Odds that Nintendo sues the researchers on this one? Of course, if this pans out Pokemon all of a sudden will not be able to be viewed as "evil". |

Heh, there has been a cure for cancer. The government just holds it from the public. Think about it is we had cures. Faster population growth... Thats not good.

There'd be SEVERAL countries hiding the cure in that case, though. Yes, it would increase the world's population but I don't think we're talking about an extra 2 billion people here. There's still plenty of other diseases, sadly, that can do you in. |

Originally posted by HyperHacker no, we do all kinds of animal testing, especially on rats. it's true we share large amounts of genes with dogs and rats, but if you imagine genes like computer programs and animals like operating systems, you can see the problems. here is an interesting article: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/3703935.stm time is the key ingredient to curing anything. science and technology improve exponentially, but the human life span seems to be the limiting factor. perhaps, years in the future, we will have other diseses that take exponentially as long to cure. |

As others said, I'm glad they are working hard on eliminating cancer, but to call it POKEMON is pretty funny. Cancer of the male genital: Its time to heal your Weepinbell! |
