Hey, Im making a video right now for a website and I want to open it like SMB3 with the curtain going up. I have an emulator that can extract a avi file from a game so I figgured I would just use the rom for SMB3. However I when the curtain is half way up mario and luigi appear and I dont want them in the picture. I was wondering if anyone could make a quick rom hack that makes the mario and Luigi sprites (technically just the mario sprite) transparent so they wouldnt be seen. If anyone has a little time, im sure for someone who knows somthing about rom hacking this would be simple, please make this quick alteration and send the file to me I would appreciate it.

I really didn't understand your post.. But how about you redraw Mario and Luigi transparent using a tile editor.. Like the yy-chart or whatever.. I'm sure that would work.. Right?

Can't you just edit the video to erase mario and luigi? They're not in the way of anything else, are they?

EDIT: failing that, you can probably turn off sprites in your emulator, unless that affects the curtain...

Didnt think of that, good idea! Can anyone recomend a NES or SNES emulator that can record AVI video and can toggle sprite layers on and off?

There's a program called Camtasia or something along those lines that can record from your desktop, you might be able to use that to capture the emulator in fullscreen. (If you did it with a window you'd end up with the border in the shot. ) Also if you just open the ROM in TLP and find the Mario sprites, you could easily overwrite them with blank tiles.

Uhm...you can turn borders off easily in it. That's not a problem.

The problem with Camtasia is that if you don't have a high-end system / vid card...you aren't going to be recording a large amount of frames per second and the video will look shoddy to say the least. Camtasia is also not free to use and it's evaluation software. So unless you're wanting to go and spend a couple hundred (think it's $300 US last I checked), you'll have to crack it for extended use.
