(IIRC, Bin Laden wants some sort of Uberneocaliphate that would cover all of the Muslim world, so the Arab states are all barriers to that) More on topic, Iran is an evil regime, but if we overthrow them, the people will end up hating us and any new government we put in, and begin "nostalgia" for the old prewar Islamic Republic, which while it was an evil regime, it was an evil regime created by Iranis... And Canada only survived the War of 1812 because of British help, and Britain was the local superpower at the time.. Keep Great Britain out of it, and we would have kicked Canadian butt. I hope they don't reinstate the draft for this one, for a few reasons: 1) I don't want my aging stepfather called in, despite his being able bodied, he has a family to support. 2) I don't want my girlfriend called in, because the Bush administration will draft women alongside men, no matter how much chauvanism is in their personal accords, when war is involved they'll get anyone to fight for them. 3) I don't want my friends called in, they're some of the greatest intellectual minds I've ever seen and they don't deserve to die and possibly set American technological development back a few decades. 4) I don't want to be called in to fight for a country I have little, if any, faith in the leadership of. | There isn't going to be a draft. There is no evidence to suggest that there will be, or might be either. Let's face it, it's not that large a scale a war. The US are planning to go through one territory at a time, not the many countries like in World War 2. If there was a draft, do you really think everyone will end up in Iran? | People should realize though that there's always been at least one country that hated America. During the Civil War, European Monarchs wanted to South to win because they hated the North's "Test of Democracy". And even then, the South hated America, per se. Then you have other country. Now they hate us due to odd stereotypes. Obviously, we don't care about our rep. War with Iran? People won't like it. But you have enemies to everything, and you have sympathizers to everything. |
