"Mac mini". 6.5x6.5x2.0 large, 40/80GB HD, CDR+DVD, 256MB DDR RAM, $499/$599.

Edit: Pictoral evidence:

Still too expensive?

I thought this was going to be some sort of spam at first, but then saw you posted it, and then there's the fact that most spammers offer stuff for free

That is cheap for any good computer Although, if I were to buy that, I'd probably prefer more RAM, and possibly more hard drive space I also notice it doesn't have a floppy drive, but then again, I've never used a Mac before, so I'm not sure whether they're common there or not.

I was reading through the page you linked to, and saw this bit near the bottom:

Keyboard, mouse, megaphone and display sold separately.

I assume by 'megaphone', they're talking about speakers, and with 'display', it's a screen. If that's the case, those alone would cost a fair bit of money Still, if you have that stuff already, it's a pretty good deal

Well, DVD is always a + but I already have a DVD burner. What kind of graphics card does it have.

Or maybe it

The last Macs with floppies were produced in 1998 or 1999, so yes, it's kind of rare.

They're jabbing at PC makers right and left on the page. The "megaphone" quip is odd humor, and then there's this: "And yes, Mac mini will take advantage of your two-button USB mouse with scroll-wheel and your favorite USB keyboard. Just plug them in."

Not to forget:

Edit: Yes, the graphics card is kind of cheap: "ATI Radeon 9200 with 32MB of DDR SDRAM with AGP 4X support". As in any other $499 computer. Hell, there are graphics cards that cost in excess of $499 all by themselves.

That looks hot.

This computer is probably more appealing to the "novice". Good 'ol grandparents would enjoy one of these.

:\ Not bad I'd say. I always thought the Mac Clones thing was the best thing Apple could have done, and they pulled the plug on that b/c it hurt their bottom line and potentially the image of their platform. I may go back to Apple someday... I just can't think of a good reason right now. It would have to be out of boredom. I tried to play an old Mac game on my school's machines running OS X and it said it couldn't run "Classic System 9'. I was sad. ;(

They probably just don't have OS 9 installed. If you do have it installed (and I do believe it comes with the new computers) it will allow you to use most old apps and games.

Uh, pretty much the entire content of the first post, and readily available in the link in the first post.

Hmm, I had already edited my post but I was too late.
This sounds pretty good though :o The Radeon 9200 isn't too bad either, you won't be able to run Doom 3 with no lag or something, but older games will run great.
But 1.25 GHz is a bit too little for the standard nowadays, is it not?

It's a totally different CPU sort. I'd place a 1.25GHz G4 in the range of 2.2 - 2.6GHz Pentium 4, at least.

And i'm not really sure, but I do think the processor is better made for 3D games than a regular X86 is. Considering PowerPC is better at floating point (while X86 is better at INT...)

I would never go fully over to Macintosh, althought I need a small PC which I can connect to my TV (a Macintosh is a Personal Computer... I usually call the other one X86 PC, but you can also say IBM PC clone...)

You know, if I got this thing and Stepmania for Mac OS X... I could do DDR on TV without the hassle with alot of cables. Now if I could connect that damn thing to the TV too, me not having any LCD TV...

Doesn't matter. The GPU (the processor on the graphics card) handles them anyway.

Actually, what's interesting is that this even has a GPU in the first place... quoth their page: "Go ahead, just try to play Halo on a budget PC. Most say they

I suppose if you bought a REALLY CHEAP PC motherboard it might not have AGP or whatever the new standard is. But yeah onboard GPU or APU = bad.
