This hack is a combination of original levels that are altered, and some brand new levels. The goal of the game is to collect 100 coins to beat the levels. The only levels you don't have to do this in, are dungeons and ship levels. However, there is a catch. Every level, you start out with 100 seconds on the clock. With faster enemies, and challenging levels, its going to take more than 100 seconds to collect 100 coins. So, I turned the P-Switch into a T-Switch (Time Switch) When you step on the T-Switch, it will add 10 seconds to your clock. And trust me, you will need to step on each one you find. Level 1 Level 2 Level 3 Level 3 is new. Dungeon Right now I'm just working on graphics for the dungeon. |

That's a good idea you've come up with There's no problems I have with any of the pictures up there. They all look very good. What would be neat to see is if you put bigger (or differently colored) coins in (such as the Dragon Coins in SMW) that add 5 or more coins to your total. Of course, they'd be tricky to get to. There's just one thing I noticed, that isn't a really big problem, and that's the blank cards down on the right hand side of the status bar It might be worth your while to remove them, but it doesn't matter a great deal either way. If you know how to, you could even turn them into a counter for the number of coins you have, to replace the one that's there right now. Looking very nice so far (edited by Karadur on 01-10-05 08:51 PM) |

Pretty cool concept you have there... keep it up! As for the three card areas mentioned by Karadur, would it be possible to allocate some of the area there for a coin counter, showing the number of remaining coins per level? Or do you have some other system for a coin counter or another purpose for the extra space? Another question: when you obtain 100 coins in the level, do you still get a 1-Up? It'd be a bit rediculus, especially since this would result in a live-per-level. Looking forward to a release, -Jeff |

Thank you guys! I'm glad you like what you see so far. Karadur, that Dragon Coin idea is good. I might just do that. Also, I did away with the choppy platform graphics, and made the new ! blocks. (they may look similar to some other's, but trust me they are different.) |

Top: Mario Adventure Bottom: This Palettes were edited slightly because the original MA shot was from a snow level palette. Looks pretty much the same to me, minus a minor difference and the obvious ? to ! change |

I hand drew everything in Tile Layer. The hills, the blocks, I didn't use any other rom and copy from. Whether you choose to believe me or not, however, is another thing. Whether I care or not, well..........I don't. I'm just going to ignore you from now on, since you're nothing but a nuisance.

Nice hack. Can't wait to play it. Maybe you can add a "total time" display to show how much time you've spent beating levels, since this is a time-attack like hack. You could probably add it over the old goal-card area. Also, maybe you should add a power-up that froze time and enemies (and effectively animations too) and make it so running faster doesn't slow the timer down like it does in the original SMB3, that would be pretty cool. If he's truthfull the simular result is easilly possible because he seems to use the same shading style MA had.

I'm sorry if the graphics seem similar. I sware I'm not trying to copy anyone. If this is a problem I will glady remove these graphics. No problem at all. I just have been inspired by DahrkDaiz, thats all. His Mario Adventure was very good. With his notes, it helped me to understand how ASM worked in a game. So, with that inspiration, I'm trying to see what I can do. If I finish this game, I want to go back hacking Megaman. Well, actually, I have to finish this game. If I cancel it, DahrkDaiz will kill me. Someguy, by looking at KP9000's graphics for Metroid title screen, and looking at DahrkDaiz's graphics, I learned that by doing that shading, it makes the graphics seem better, like higher resolution. I want my hack to look as good as it can. I had the other ! blocks, but the reason they didn't look so good, because they were too thin. So, I just made them a little bit bigger, and ironically, they came out looking like DahrkDaiz' ! blocks. I mean, if someone here wants to do graphics for me, you're more than welcome to. You get credit for all your graphics work. DahrkDaiz: Thanks man. I don't know if I can do those things, but I'll try. It seems like it might be a little complicated. I only know how to do little things. If you want to play it, I can send you the rom. |

Interesting idea. Me likes. My short list o' suggestions: - Maybe make Mario run a bit faster? This is going to be a fast-paced hack, after all... - How about a choice between Mario or Luigi, with Luigi having the now-standard "higher jump, less traction" control? It could be just at the start of the game (like SMB2J), if for some reason you can't make them switchable between levels... - "Double-edged" inventory items that do a really good thing, but also a bad thing as well. Like, slows down the timer, but also makes the enemies faster. Or an item that makes coins worth more (so you need fewer of them to beat the level), but you also start that level with a lower and/or faster timer... |

Thank you! I was working on the graphics some more for the past half hour. Do these look better than the previous screens? I made these mean clouds. They're not happy that Mario is standing on them. |

I only have one thing to say about this: Finish it this time. I've seen two promising works from you already go to waste because you lost interest. Follow through, or you won't be taken seriously... |
