Ya, I've got an overworld (though not finalized, I need to tweak a few things), and I've got the non-visible paths to walk on in place (and working as far as I've tested). My problem is in trying to fix the events that will make the visible walking path appear after finishing a level. Instead of a path, I get garbled crap...and I have a feeling Mario doesn't appreciate walking on garbled crap. I've looked at overworld event tutorials, but there's still something I can't get right in putting the path pieces where they need to be. Could someone give me a specific rundown on what I'm doing wrong as opposed to what I should be doing? |

To me it looks like when you add the event you are having half on the piece you want shown and half on the piece you don't want shown. If it unfolds correctly then that means you've selected the wrong tiles to display (at least that's how I understand it).

That happens pretty often to me. Mostly with larger tiles, though. I've heard that it's caused by fast forwarding the emulator. I haven't had enough time to check it myself, though. (edited by Smallhacker on 01-08-05 05:25 PM) |

If you find out what exactly happens and how to fix it please inform me, because if it's not what I said then I have no idea what it is. I'll add it to the tutorial.

Originally posted by Smallhacker That shouldn't make a difference. Fast-forward just cuts some of the delay loops in the emulation, it shouldn't change anything in the game. |

Ya, it can't be fast-forwarding, since I don't use it.Originally posted by Lordlazer Pretty much. Thing is, when I bring up the tile editor to try and make a path, the highlighted selections are in that same state. I click and it illuminates the right half of one path and the left half of the one next to it. Which sucks. |

Do you have a bad rom? Are you using the latest version of Lunar Magic? If worse comes to worse you could shift them over yourself to make it look correctly...though you shouldn't have to do that.

This is what I was talking about: Dunno how it happened, but I compared it to my unedited ROM and I can see the difference. Fixable (and if so, how)? Thanks for the help... |

You'd edit that blue area. Select the part on the left and then paste it to the right, alligning it with the paths accordingly. Next select and move (if you can't move it do another copy and paste to put it in the correct spot). Next delete the excess side on the right (if you copied). Edit: You do this under Layer 2 8x8 Editor Mode. (edited by Lordlazer on 01-10-05 07:57 PM) |

Yeah, moving the pieces manually like that helped. Thanks! Now, to get the hang of working with events...

That's an easy one to solve. Go to Useful resources for SMW hackers (NEWBIES: READ THIS FIRST) and scroll down to Lunar Magic Overworld Tutorial. Left-Click, because for some reason right-clicking doesn't seem to work correctly. Anyways, if you have any questions about the tutorial contact me through Private Message.

Ah, but I already have...which is why I recognized you. It's saved to the same folder as my hack, which is on a different computer than this one. But if I start to flip out over anything, I'll be sure to ask, thanks for the offer. |
