The only rap I can stand is Run DMC and the Beastie Boys, they've got the rapping going on, but with rock instead of two beats and annoying girls grunting repeated for 2 minutes. (edited by Xeogred on 01-08-05 03:29 PM) |

There's several rap songs that I like... not a fan of the genre altogether, but every now and then, I may find a handful of individual songs that I like. -Mos Def + Massive Attack's "I Against I" (not really rap, but rather trip hop) -Outkast's "The Love Below" ...for starters. |

Goldie Lookin Chain. Best Rapgroup. Ever!' *nods sagely* Actually it sort of depends on many things. I LOVE Eminem's "Stan" and "Toy Soldiers", but that ight have something to do with the samples (Dido and Martika). I also love Faithless' "Insomnia", but is it a rap song (because there is a rap", some sort of poetry or just a dance record? Discuss. |

I like instrumental hip-hop in the vein of DJ Shadow, Prefuse 73 and Kid Koala, but there's very little lyrical hip-hop that ever leaves much of an impression on me. Aesop Rock, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, The Roots, Deltron, Mr. Lif, Roots Manuva, Blackalicious, Jurassic 5, and the Beasties are all listenable, but I can't say I'd ever really bother buying any of their albums. They just don't make much of an impact on me really. (edited by Zarathud on 01-10-05 07:15 PM) |

Originally posted by Ziffski As am I. Believe it or not, I also enjoy some forms of rap. Nearly all of them being old school, preferably from the early 90's and 70's era. My favorites include Grandmaster Flash and NWA. Grandmaster Flash's "Message" is powerful (first heard it when I was 8, on Encarta Encyclopedia '96), while NWA delivers a nice type of attitude in their music. |

Like many other suburban white boys, I like rap a bit. D12's "Get My Gun" + Bass = The Shiznit, yo. I also like Flava Flav. No, I don't like his music, just the fact that he's really stupidly obnoxious, and I think I can kick his ass. |

I like all rap, but especially Jurassic 5, Arrested Development, A Tribe Called Quest and Eminem. And of course The Beastie Boys. Well from the family tree of old school hip-hop Kick off your shoes and relax your socks The rhymes will spread just like a pox 'Cause the music is live like an electric shock I am known to do the Wop *wop* Also known for the Flintstone Flop *flop* Tammy D getting biz on the crop *crop* Beastie Boys known to let the beat... "Mmmh..drop" Now when I wrote graffiti my name was Slop If my rap's soup my beats is stock Step from the tables when I start to chop I'm a lumber jack DJ Adrock If you try to knock me you'll get mocked I'll stir fry you in my wok Your knees'll start shaking and your fingers pop Like a pinch on the neck of Mr. Spock |

Zarathud: Might I suggest Busdriver? Even though he's basically a lower-rent Twista as far as speed-rapping goes, he's more interesting. I've also come to appreciate Nas more lately. New album, first single, the beat's basically a typical blues riff. And his father (avant-garde jazz trumpeter Olu Dara) has the hook, too. Melvin: Who knew Dolores O'Riordan could rap? |

I'm digging Xzibit, they're pretty good. I also quite enjoy Nas, also. My conservative ex-skin head gang member turned ghetto styled history teacher is all about the Nas. |
