| Hello! http://os-emulation.net/pearpc/web/index.html Maybe some of you have heard about this program before. Its called PearPC. With a lot of different programs which are linked on the site, and the use of their program, you can get your normal PC to read Mac disks and eventually get to the point of installing OS X on your PC. This seems totally legal and a great thing to do sence Mac isn't nice and doesn't make emulators for PC like Windows does to Mac. One quick question... Has anyone here ever done this? I am just wondering if it works and if I should spend my money on OS X. Also, a techy guy I know said it can screw up your computer. Is this true? Oh, yah, and for the most of you guys who never attempted this, post any thoughts you have about Mac emulation on PCs. =P Snika |

| Yep I've done it and it works. And if you just want to see how Mac OS X looks and feels like, buy a Mac that's more worth it. Your "techy guy" doesn't know what he's talking about. This is a virtual machine, and it will most likely not blow your computer up. If you want to try using PearPC, use a free operating system such as the PowerPC version of Mandrake or OpenDarwin. |

| It's as safe as running an NES/SNES emulators, unless you set the virtual machine to use the HD itself and not a "virtual drive" (that's possible to do with VMware) your pretty much safe, hell if there is any risky settings. It won't be any default, so go right ahead. Althought it's very slow emulation. Don't expect too much of it.  |

| I saw something like this on G4TechTV once. Leo (one of the hosts) said it works fine but it is very choppy. I dont know if this is the same one, but the one he had running, was running the OS in a window. So you have windows running in the BG with OS X running in a minimizeable window. However, running the mouse cursor over the window made the 'mouse trails' appear. But whne the window was minimized, he said the computer ran fine. I personally hate macs (love the look but hate the way it works), so I have never tried it. |

| If it works: Yes Is it worth it: Not really, for an entirely different reason. Generally the Mac apps that are superior to apps on other platforms are superior mostly because they can run on a different environment than Windows. If you emulate that, it'll be a very, very slow environment, which is just not worth it. |

| I'm not exactly sure what Jesper's talking about... the look of the environment shouldn't matter, if that's what you're saying. There are ways to turn off the pretty effects in OS X (shadows, animations), so PearPC won't choke as much. | |||
