Thought I'd ask, for those of you living in Canada, how is the place? How's the Canadian lifestyle? Been too America? Loved it, or hated it? Is it cold there? Don't mind it? Do you ski or snowboard? Do you even live near mountains? I'll stop. This is a pretty random thread, but I just got a little curious I guess. |

As you can see from my location in my profile, I live in Canada, and I'll have to say I like it here. I have been to America a few times, but not to stay there or anything I can't say I loved it or hated it. I really didn't mind being there, and it was alright Of course, that may have been caused by the fact that I was anxious to get back home As far as the question about it being cold here, if you're talking about the current weather (which I'm sure you are), then yes, it can get pretty cold out there, but for the most part it's bearable, at least I don't know what it was like elsewhere, but we got a nice snowstorm last night. Second one this winter That left a layer of ice all over our van, which was a pain to clean when we had to go out today I personally don't ski or snowboard, and it's actually been quite a while since I've even done anything like that in winter. Our house isn't located anywhere near mountains, so I'll have to answer 'no' to that question Anymore questions that we could try to answer for you? I don't really see any problem with them if you're curious. |

There's isn't much in Canada that's different than other countries, unless you consider the fact that the laws are pretty loose. I've never been the country to my south (or USA, if you prefer), but that's me.... I never get out. The cold's nothing when you get used to it, really. |

It's cold right now outside. Well, the snow doesn't help but still. Canada might be a bit more loose with laws as was mentioned, but it's not THAT much different from the States. Closest thing to Canada in the States would be Vermont. |

Originally posted by Nebetsu Not where I live. It can get warm here, but I'm right by the Ocean and such here in little Prince Rupert. But Kelowna can get damn hot. As for your question Xeo, Canada's quite nice. The cold isn't too much of a bother after a while, there's some good wildlife, many trees (here in BC there's the most), and so and so forth. It's pretty much the same as the states in many ways, but Canada is just a bit better than it's neighbor. ... The States are still good...Canada is just...better... |

Blame Canada! Blame Canada! I forgot the rest of it. One thing I like about Canada is their delicious tree syrup. |

Trees are nice, don't get a lot of those living smack dab in the middle of the US. (edited by Xeogred on 01-07-05 05:02 PM) |

Xeogred, if you're inquiring because you're thinking of visiting Canada or even living there then I recommend it personally. If you want to see some of the most beautiful scenery on the face of the Earth, go to Alberta. That place is damn gorgeous. It's almost surreal. (edited by Legion on 01-07-05 05:51 PM) |

If you aren't talking about government (and even then, to a certain degree), it really depends where you go. I live in America (Washington) and have been to Canada, it all depends on where. | |||

It's a nice place, that's for sure. At least, outside of the major cities like Toronto, it's nice and clean, not a lot of crime, and big open spaces. It's not really as cold as some people say everywhere... Up North, sure, it gets damn cold. Here in South Ontario though, it's about the same weather as say New York (since it's not that far from there ). It's cold in the winter, hot in the summer, just like any other place... Only gripe I have is that winter lasts too damn long. It's like there's no spring sometimes, it just warms up around late May. Alberta really is nice, and much better to drive in too, since the roads are all flat and straight. Some places you quite literally could fall asleep at the wheel and wake up in the middle of the road out of gas. (Not that you should try it. ) Problem is there's not much between towns except looooong stretches of road. Also, yes, the laws are a bit less strict. It's especially nice that we're allowed to download whatever the hell music we want (for now anyway). In return, blank CDs cost more, but bah, I just buy a CDRW and burn MP3s to it. |

Contrary to popular belief, it really isn't all that cold up here (I still make fun of my relatives in the NWT by saying that they live in igloos though). It still is a bit chillier than the States though, and I really do love all the snow we get. Oh yeah, I'm from Powassan, ON. It's about a 20 min drive from North Bay. Canada is cool. I wish I lived over in BC or something because I like skiing and all the trees. I live here in southern ontario and its cool. Winters are quite cold, IMO, but then the summers are quite hot. The US is cool also. I have been to pretty much all the eastern states (mainly the ones that are from under ontario down to flordia(sp?)). And alot of the ones on the US-Can boarder (Detroit was my fav!). One place I want to visit in the states is Cali because I heard of a petrified forest attraction thats there. But yes, I think canada is better than the states. Because here in canada you will most likely never see a guy standing on the side of the road with a gun (I saw this in Detroit). Altho I shouldn't base detroit off of what the states are like And BTW, we all live in igloo's, eat blubber and have pet penguins... |

Originally posted by Zem The King? That's news to me As far as living in igloos go, this is a pretty nice one I'm in right now, then. Two floors, 5 bedrooms, a basement, and more It gets internet access too Now I'm being serious. I have been in the U.S., as I said in my post up at the top of the page. I've never been there for more than 7 or 8 hours, but it's still better than where I've gone in Canada. To tell the truth, I've never been outside of Ontario Farthest I've been would have to be up to Niagra Falls I would like to go visit other places in Canada someday, but I currently don't have the things necessary to be able to. A couple other people have said something about the laws being less strict here, and I can't say I really noticed that, but if it's true, it's all the better for us then (edited by Karadur on 01-09-05 04:38 PM) |
