ermm, well, just finished my personal site layout. Just collecting feedbacks from you guys..

Any opinions are welcome, especially criticism, so I could know where to change/modify/edit/etc

My site

It should be accessable/viewable by all browsers, or should I say, its cross-browser compliant layout. Let me know if the layout does not appear correctly for you.

Note : This is not advertising, as my site absolutely does not contains any err.. content Anyway, if admins/mods consider I'm advertising, then feel free to remove the link/delete my thread. .

Looks nice. It feels kinda plain and too white though, add some background or something to the stuff to breathe some life in it.

Text: Far too bright.
Links: Same, except they also don't stand out. Use a blue-tinted dark gray, mabye, to try and conform to way-back-then standards or at least use another color.

Other than that I don't mind the fact it's plain, I just don't like how it always takes up a tiny speck on my screen =/ STRETCY PLZ

Going for the simple look, eh?

I think the banner is slightly oversized, and the curves don't match well. And to add to jasukan's comment a light green background should added behind where links are to reflect the theme.

<commentary type="under-the-hood">

I think it looks quite nice... very clean and simple, if a bit trendy. Although markup that validates is a trend I would hope to never see go out of style.

That said, why the Transitional DTD? The markup appears to be perfectly good XHTML 1.0 Strict; the only thing in the page (upon a cursory examination of the markup) not present in Strict are the target="_new" things, which are rather annoying; if I want the link to open in a new tab, I'll damn well open it in a new tab myself, I don't need you to make that decision for me (especially if I decide I want to open it in the current tab. oops, it went and spawned an entire new instance of Firefox when I didn't so much as want it to spawn a new tab. now I have to close the new window and then open the link (in a new tab rather than in the same tab) and close the old tab because it's not playing on my terms).

If only that were the strongest criticism I could level at that site! After demonstrating an understanding of semantics by using a <ul> for the external-links list, I found this to be rather disconcerting:
<div id="footbottom"><img src="images/spacer.gif" alt="" width="500" height="20" /></div>
apparently div#footbottom {width: 500px; height: 20px;} is beyond you when crafting a <ul> to your exacting specifications is not. tsk, tsk.

In spite of these things, you still demonstrate a vastly superior level of web coding competence than the hordes of tag-soup "coders" wandering aimlessly around the Web, and I commend you for that.

There you go, added a light green texture on the content background and change some minor coding.

Hmm, the curves on the banner are supposed to be like that, since regular shapes that I had seen across the net seems quite.. normal. I just want ot make it a little bit "unique". I will try to make it smaller though.

Hmm, I'm not planning to make it stretch to fit the screen since my layout idea is to center it. "Tiny speck"? What is your monitor resolution?

Transitional DTD markup are much more loose than the Strict DTD. Evem though my current CSS standards match the Strict DTD, I'm using the Transitional DTD so that I could make changes to my CSS much more easier.

Errmm, I don't quite get what you mean by these lines. Anyway, the spacer.gif are for expanding the <div> to make sure it size remains in 500 x 20. Even though the image actually not needed in <div>, I will take it off later.

Anyway, thanks guys, for letting me know some precious criticisms. Anymore to come?

Very nice. I really love how that Highlight box looks, and the content box above it is nice as well. Keep up the good work.

Well, remade the site layout again.

As usual, please give me your opinions/feedbacks on the layout.

Might as well let me know if your browser renders the layout correctly or not.
