Just wondering if somebody could clear up some confusion I'm having.

My PM thing reports that I have 40 something messages.... but when I actually go in there, I have none in the Inbox, and none in any folders. I have 70 something in sent...

Where is this 40 coming from? Is this some kind of bug?

It's due to the new (and in my opinion unefficient) way.

I assume that either a) two messages are sent or b) it keeps track of if it's 'deleted' by one user but doesn't really delete itself unless both users delete it.

Therefore, unless people delete messages they sent to you, you'll keep having 40

Yeah, that's basically it. When you delete a PM, it really just gets moved to a hidden folder (because if it was truly deleted, it would also disappear from the other person's 'sent' folder). Unfortunately the contents of this folder are still counted for your total, and nobody's got around to fixing it.

...Really, wouldn't it make a bit more sense if each message had a 'deleted by sender' flag and a 'deleted by reciever' flag, and when one user deletes the message, if it was already deleted by the other it would get completely removed?

Bleargh.

Okay then. it'd be nice if I could make it so I had 0 messages, but oh well, I guess I can't!
