1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries: network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading. 2. Alter the entries as follows: (by double clicking them) Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once. 3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves |

This almost seems like an exact copy of a thread posted here not too long ago... http://board.acmlm.org/thread.php?id=8770 Still, it's good information, and even speeds up my 56k browsing. |

Well, as far as I'm concerned, IE doesn't have the configuration program that Firefox uses; you'd have to hack it, which is illegal.

Is there anything in a configuration file or registry or something?

Originally posted by windwakerArguably. This board and the page it's associated to is largely based on ROM hacks, which are in essence much the same thing. Have you ever seen someone convicted based on a ROM hack? The argument goes that while there may be paragraphs regarding that in the EULAs, you're entitled to private backup and smaller modifications in fair use (as long as you don't try to redistribute the hacks or backups for profit which makes it something else entirely). I'm not a lawyer, but I think that saying that hacking IE (even if just for your own enjoyment) is illegal is playing it too safe. |

I've never come across any IE specific hacks or tweaks to make it faster (other than disabling Active X and other security options). If you insist on using IE, then the tweaks on the following page may help somewhat. Not all of these tweaks affect just IE though, so be carefull, as with all registry edits. Hope this helps some. http://www.tweakxp.com/internet_tweaks.aspx |

For the most part, the courts agree that you can do whatever to your copy of hardware/software as long as it isn't redistributed like that (except in the case of the author allowing such things). Now... you could have done a better job at stealing my post. I wrote those instructions with my own words. It's unlikely that you coincidentally typed the same thing from scratch. |

Can't say how legal IE hacking is, but it'd be more difficult than using the config in Mozilla. Anyway, since this was posted here about a week ago, I'm just gonna close this one. |
