You mean a Cactuar. He is a monster. He serves no other purpose. He appers in multiple FF games, and is usually difficult to find and/or beat. It is known for its 1000 needles attack. .... are you just looking for something to post in here, or what? |

I've never seen the guy in those games. No im not looking for stuff to post, I've wondered this for a great time now. Maybe too long. I think when The Bouncer first came out i was curious cuase my GI had a pic of the Cactuar(sp?) with a no smoking sign on it. I had no idea what it was until i heard it was from Final Fantasy. Well now i know. Is it in FF8 though by any chance? Cuase im getting 8 soon, and im curious if its there.

Well, in FF8, there is the GIANT Cactuar, which you can get as a GF.

He appears in FF7 I believe, I don't remember seeing him in 6, or 5, and I do remember him in 7, so you can just say he is from 7 and don't worry about it. Really though, it seems like you are just trying to get your post count up, and also... ACS means nothing, don't chance a ban for it... |

He was indeed in FF6, and went by the name "Cactrot" in the US version. The famed 1000 Needle attack, called "Blowfish" in the translation, was learnable by Stragos as a blue magic spell. He was located in a desert somewhere in the world of ruin. Forgot where, but there can't be THAT many deserts. |

Hes just one of those famous reused enemies that have always shown up in just about every FF game in existence. Similarly how Dragon Warrior/Quest games always have the same damned Slime enemy when you first begin your adventure to level off of.

I remember in FFVI they were pretty hard to hit, but if you successfully killed them before they ran away you got a ton of Gil and a whopping 10 Magic Points.

They also appears in Crystal Chronicles, they jump around in their running pose in a very odd way. And they're quite weak in that game too. IIRC. I hadn't played any of the Playstation FF's... Heh, "Slime monsters" appears in alot of games for some reason... thought Dragon quest probably was one of the first RPG's with that monster. |

He's an evasive lil fsck most times. FF8's Giant Cactuar Junction/Summon was rather nice though if you got him maxed (10000 damage), but then Eden beats him out. He was in the one flash that I linked to in Crazy just recently: 'Final Fantasy Fugitive'. |

God knows how in the hell you get GF's to hit Cactuars before they start running. I just equipped Squall with Auto-Haste, junctioned Ultima to Attack, and Water to Elem-Atk and went to town on the little buggers. Jumbo Cactuar's also good for stocking up on Meltdown, which I always throught was one of the coolest-looking spells ever. |

The Giant Cactuar fight in FF8 was one of the only really cool parts of the game. I liked it because it was a difficult fight, I must've taken half an hour to beat him. Maybe I was just REALLY weak... Was he supposed to be hard? |
