my story starts from when i was small. as a chld i had been brought up by parents who believed in "if the child does wrong beat him" household. so when i did something bad i would get beaten whether it be by a stick or a bamboo cane. now in september i started this really expensive private boarding school which my parents are forking out

9. 1. 1. If you find yourself on a message board writing this, it's easier to just call the cops and get your parents lifted by the police, if their punishment is as bad as you write it is. |

If you call the police, they should deal with your parents. Don't be afraid to do that even though you might not be allowed to go to your school. What they're doing to you is illegal and completely unacceptable. If they make you want to commit suicide becuase of their actions, the police will deal with them. PS: Suicide is really bad choice. Life is definitely worth living. |

As hard as it probably will be for you, your best bet is to call the police, as Kwanzaa said. Your parents have some right to get angry at you for not doing too well in your classes, when they're paying for them, but there's no reason whatsoever they should start abusing you because of it Originally posted by firemaker There's pretty much two options you have right now: 1) Call the police. You say you wouldn't be able to stay in school, and you like it because it's an escape from your problems, but getting away from them for 6 or 7 hours a day isn't solving them. There's also a chance that this would show your parents that you're sick of what they're doing, and you won't tolerate it anymore 2) Leave things as they are, definitely the worst of the two choices. You could try standing up to your parents again, but chances are they'd just do the same things they did before You could explain what's happening to one of your friends, and see if they'd let you stay at their house for a couple days. With that, if you still don't feel comfortable about calling the police, you could talk to your friend's parents and see if they can make the call. About the suicide thing, your life is plenty worth living. You probably think it'll get you away from your parents, and that is true, but going by what you told us already, there's a good chance that they'd be happy to have you gone. I'm not saying that to be mean though. Killing yourself would just be running away from your problems, but you have to try your hardest to do something about them. I said this next part quite a bit to the person I talked about in my thread down a ways, and even though I don't know if it did anything or not, I'll say it to you as well. Don't ever give up. Nothing good comes from death. |

They have a right to be upset or even angry, but I would seriously question a parent's commitment to their child if they do this kind of stuff. I find it really hard to see any emotional tie/bond here. You have to call the authorities. You don't know what's going to happen until you do, but at least SOMETHING will be done. You could also ask for that to be done through your school. |

If you talk to somebody at your school, they have to do something about it. They have something called Mandatory Reporting, (all schools here do) if they find out that you are being abused, they have to do something about it. Of course, I'd still talk to the police. If your parents are beating you bruised and bloody, they're not the kind of people you should be around. They have no right to do that, and no reason (like grades) is acceptable when it comes to that behaviour. They're grown ups, they should know better too. Speak to the police, or speak to somebody at your school. And yeah, if you have a friend at school, speak to them and ask if it would be possible for you to stay there for a while, perhaps. |

So you'd rather commit suicide than not go to a private school? Believe it or not, private schools really aren't everything. What happens when you and your sisters get older? Chances are, they're going to beat you more as a teen ager than they have before. Do you really want to keep yourself in that kind of abusive environment? Even if your parents don't beat your sisters that often, they still do it. Posting on a message board won't make your problems go away. There is nothing we can do or say that will help the situation besides for telling you to call the police. ~Delial |

I happen to think you've got too high an opinion of private schools. There is NOTHING anybody can do to stop your parents from going "too far" unless you contact the authorities. Your parents have you in their house, in their custody. While it's not legal, it doesn't matter, they can effectively do whatever they like to you. If they've beaten you before, there is absolutely NOTHING stopping them from doing it again. And what's stopping them from going really too far one day? What if one day they beat you till you're seriously, permanently injured? Or dead? What about your sisters? You say that they don't get beaten much now, but how do you know that's never going to change? You don't. You don't know if or when that's going to change. I repeat: outside of telling the Police or some authorities, there is NOTHING that anybody can do for you. That means you have to make a decision. You effectively have two options, no more: Continue to have the crap beaten out of you by your parents. You'll feel like shit all the time, and you'll be living in fear of when the next beating's going to come, but you'll get to go to your private school. -- OR -- Accept that the only way to free yourself from this is to take the plunge and call the police. You don't know what will happen till you do, but I can tell you this much -- they are the only people with the power to stop your parents from doing this to you and to your sisters. Personally, if I were in your situation, I'd take the plunge and call the police. If not for your own sake, but for your sisters sake. Like I said, you don't know when the situation will get bad for them, too. |

I'm just wondering how you could get beatenso bad without anyone outside your family noticing it, I'd think someone at school would be at least a little concerned to see a student completly fuked over like that...anyways, yeah. Call the police, and stay with the person closest to you outside your family until it settles over. Trust me on this one. Get the fuck out of there while you can. I don't evenk know you but I'm royally pissed off at how you're parrents act...people like them should be put away, I'm sorry for saying so..I know they're your parrents but it seems to me they've done a half-assed job of proving it. Eh, my two cents, take it for what its worth.

Even though thats alot of money for classes...still no parent has the right to beat their child over low grades. Simple discipline? Yes. But beating!? Hell no! You may not live with your parents any longer if you call the cops, but maybe youll get into a better home as a foster. Life is worth living. What if you were to kill yourself and find there is no heavan or hell? But nothing but darkness...Do you really want to find out now? Why not wait, until your time comes to die, thats how i see it. Things will get better. Make the right choices though and you will pull through and maybe stay in your school if your really lucky!

yesterday i went to social services (its a 5 minute walk from my house.) without telling my parents. obviously the first thing they asked was where were my parents. i told them that they were at home. but they let me in anyway. i said i wanted to speak to somebody about child abuse. they took me to this room. and i had to discuss what had gone on with this woman. she said thhat she wanted my adress and phone number so she could call my parents sometime late. i gave it and then she said i should go home for now and she will phone tomorrow to arrange a meeting wiht my parents there. and so now i'm just waiting till tommorrow.

It's good to hear you did that. It probably wasn't the easiest thing to do, but at least something will be done now. Although now I'm worried about what your parents will do when they get the call tomorrow If they get the call while you're at school, it might not be as bad, but if something happens where you're home, who knows what'll happen. Anyhow, you've taken a good first step into stopping this. You've done the right thing by talking to Social Services about it |

I'm really proud of you. Now that you've told them, even if you continue living with your parents, your parents know that that can't keep up what they've been doing with out getting into a lot of trouble. ~Delial |

my parents got the call todyay and we are supposed to have a meeting on satturday. they were quite angry but knew there was nothing they could do about it. the best part was that i had been tinking they would lose theirtop but infact they just left me alone. so all that remains is for the meeting to take place. things are looking very good

I'm so glad you did something about this. I hope the meeting goes well. I'm not surprised your parents are angry, but hopefully now they realise that the way they behaved was wrong. Good luck with the meeting. |

Now then that was not as bad as you thought it was now then? They would be REALLY stupid if they were to do anything to ya. Also as far as the education goes. I used to go to a top ranked school in the US and I learned that it all falls down to if you work at it you will get the same education. But you have to work at it harder then before. The only thing I can see diffrent is that the new school might screw up your classes for the first year

i just thought i would let you know whats now happening. I went to school and stayed there for three weeeks whille soocial services were sorting out what to do and these are the things that are now happening - my parents are not allowed to do ANY phisical damage to me - i can still live with them because of the fact they treated my sisters well -i can still go to my school (they said that at least my parents can give me a better education than te gov) - what is happening at home is now reviewed once a fortnight. it makes me very happy. everytings perfect i don't have to go to school. my parents are now being nice to me. |

I was begninning to wonder what exactly happened to you and this thread I have no idea how long a fortnight is (actually, I do now. Thanks to neotransotaku and Apophis for telling me what it is), and I'm in no position to be able to find out right now, but it's really good to hear how things are going now It's especially good to hear that you're still able to go to your school, as that seems like something that's pretty important to you. Just do your best to keep your grades up to a respectable level I'm unsure of whether it was intentional or not, but I find the point about your parents giving you better education than the government funny In all, it's good to see which direction this problem has gone, and hopefully you don't find yourself in a situation like that again (edited by Karadur on 02-16-05 06:22 PM) |
