I think they do certain things, like giving you new power-ups or adding new levels to the game. You can read more about it here:

http://www.gameboy.com/supermarioadvance4/

At the bottom flash menu on that site, click the green box with the e-reader logo on it.

I already know what they do. I just want to know if the extra levels are worth the money in getting an e-reader and cards. Because if they're not, then I'll just get SMW for GBA.

They are definitly worth it. The new levels are awesome, and.. well.. the rest of the cards are actually pretty meh. The movie cards are decent enough, if you don't already know the trick they show you, but I guess you can find them described online somewhere. Apart from the Feather card, which is badass, the item cards are crap. You can just abuse Toad houses if you want items.

If you already have an e-reader, go for it. If not... well... The Mario cards are the only decent cards released outside Japan. I guess the Pokemon cards are okay if you're really into those games (scan them, and you'll face some new trainers with high-levelled pokemon. There are also some for getting hidden berries that are probably really good.). Then there's the NES cards, which take about a minute to load, and don't support 2 players. Most of those games are available on Animal Crossing anyway. Speaking of Animal Crossing, those cards give you new items that are usually rather easy to obtain in the game. Joy. Oh, and they are trading cards, which means you'll have to buy a billion of them to get those exclusive cards that contain stuff you can't get otherwise (2 NES games, and a couple of Station Models. Not all of them, for some reason. You'd think they would be more popular than random furniture anyone can get)
Then there's the Pokemon TCG cards, which started out as somewhat cool (minigames and shit, too bad they all require multiple cards to load), but currently consist of pokedex info and other crap noone cares about.

Japan got all these cool Pikmin 2 and Mega Man Battle Network 4 cards, while us english-speaking gents got all the crappy stuff. The e-reader didn't sell well in US, so noone bothered to adapt the good cards to this market. And they weren't released in Europe at all. Sad, really.

Well, it's up to you.

BTW, does anyone know a place that sells Mario Advance 4 Series 2 cards, and ship them to Europe? Amazon are being assholes with their new shipping policy.

Actually Adamant, the berries that you get from the e-reader for pokemon have no use other than getting high-level pokeblocks, which are fairly useless unless you really, really like pokemon contests. No one does, by the way

Seeing how it's going to be a pain to get the cards, I think I'll just get Dawn Of Souls instead.

I think the whole E-Reader thing is a scam. You pay 50 bucks for this thing, then you have to buy expensive packs of cards and hope that they're not the same crappy ones you already have 100 of, which they most likely are. Nobody around here sells them, even.

If youre not gonna buy the card, simply google the name 'e-reader' amd you might find it. Its not too hard to find. I would supply a website but im afraid this board doesnt allow it.
Well, they do need to keep the board legal

I say... yes. The new levels are really cool and its fun to have things like infinite hammer suits and P-Wings. Oh, and abilitlies from other games (capes and veggies). I only have 1 & 2. When is series 3 coming out?

Actually, I don't really see the complete set of SMA4 E-cards coming. It might just be (heresy) another Yoshi egg(from the first SMA)-esque scam. I mean, the DS is already out and the Gameboy advance my be packing up and shipping away.

If I remember right there still are SMA4 cards they could adapt for the US E-Reader, due to the GBA being region free but the E-Reader not being region free. They have some cool things like, well, new levels and, uhh, what else do they have that's cool.... cooler new levels.

I think I'm just going to download a save file of all the cards scanned and use some sort of cheat device to swap save files.

Awesome! I just saw the site! Makes me wish I was in Japan... Better yet, I'll make Japan come to me...

Helicopter... Free.
World's largest rope... $10000.
Infinite rice balls... $Infinite.
SMA4 E-Cards in America... Priceless.

Nah... that'll never work. Where would I get an infinite-dollar bill?
