I'm starting to hear some stuff about this band and was wondering
1. What genre of music do they fit into?
2. are they any good?
3.how many cds do they have out now?
4. Which CD is their best?

thanks for helping out

"And you will know us by the trail of dead questions" is the band's NAME? Do people call it "AYWKUBTTODQ" or what?

I turned up some fansites on Google (note: try using this). Apparently some people call them "Trail of dead questions" for short. Beyond that, I couldn't say.

I believe the name of the band is called "And you will know us by the trail of dead", and just had questions about it.

As far as what kind of music they play or how good they are, I really can't say. I've just heard of them.

1. Most would say that they fit into either the noise rock or post-rock genres. Their music focuses on dissonance, chaos and sonic textures, while still retaining something reminiscent of melody. Sometimes.
2. While there are better post-rock bands, a la Explosions in the Sky, Mogwai and Godspeed You Black Emperor, Trail of Dead are a pretty good band - most certainly not for everyone, though - and are also an okay starting place for getting into the style of music.
3. They have three albums out currently and another is this coming year.
4. Some would say "Source Tags and Codes" is a good place, but I reckon their self-titled debut or Madonna are stronger.

*bows* I hope I was of some help. :3 Also, I highly, highly recommend the aforementioned post-rock bands, along with such bands as Sigur Ros, A Silver Mt. Zion and, my favorite band, My Bloody Valentine.

Not exactly, oniblade. Post-hardcore's more along the lines of Fugazi, where they work in other influences like dub but sound like punk evolved. Post-rock is more like bands like the Sea and Cake as well as Tortoise. They throw in jazz elements as well as other stuff (like doing a song in 25/8 time if they please).

I dunno if I'd call Trail of Dead (as the kids call 'em) post-rock, but I wouldn't say they aren't either. They're decidedly indie rock, but they do fool around with it quite a bit. Source Tags and Codes is taking a while to grow on me, but it is quite good (recommended: "Another Morning Stoner" and... uhm... track four). That and they're HIGH-LARIOUS in interviews (good luck getting them to tell you what the name means). Favorite comment: "Another Morning Stoner" is them trying to be like early U2... the title gives it away, as the song is about faith and erections (well, "stoner" is allegedly Gaelic slang for a hard-on).
