I know I posted this in the program forums by accident meaning to post it in hardware. And I know that its frowned on to post a topic twice. You guys can frown on me then, But I really am begging for help. on my knees begging for help.

Like I said before in the post My video card isint work properly as it was before i refomatted it. I tracked it down to the bios and somthing in there is what holds the key to fixing it. I know how to get in there " the PC is a asrock with a athlon xp 1.66 ghtz prosseser." I dont know what to do in there. What I need from you guys is where i might find it or some kind of word i sould be looking for and how to set it up. That is what I need to know.

If any admin or moditer wants to close and delete the post in programing it is ok with me. But people please dont brush this one off. I really need help here.

So... you posted in the wrong forum, and realizing that you did so and that you shouldn't post it again, you decided to post it again here?

I mean I a'm begging you guys so cant you get some joy out of that?

Hmmm, I'm no computer nerd but for some reason I don't think that's going to fix the problem here.

Riight. Moving along...

If it was working before a reformat, the problem isn't in your BIOS, and changing your BIOS is likely to do absolutely nothing.

You need to fix the problem in Windows. Try downloading the latest video drivers from the video card manufacturer's website.

And if you need a thread moved, next time send a PM to an administrator or moderator, perhaps.

Are you sure? I mean have to run the moniter though the motherboard in order to see anything. Its just on other forums I posted it on they tell me bios this and bios that... I have installed the drivers off of nividia but its like the video card isint there at all or somthing like that. I fell like it is somthing in the bios but I cant put my finger on it.

Well, you didn't explain that you have onboard video and video card video in your description.

Now that you have, then yes, you DO need to look at your BIOS.

You need to disable the onboard video in your BIOS. However, I'm not willing to walk you through how to do that. I don't even know what kind of BIOS you have... is it an AwardBIOS? An AMIBIOS? Phoenix BIOS?

BIOS'es differ, and their wording of certain things differ too.... it's not something I'm willing to walk through on the internet as I don't know what you have.

You know what Milky? You should take this problem to a designated software/hardware help message board. No offense, but I wouldn't really trust any of these people here. They give nothing but cookie cutter answers (It might be spyware, are you behind a firewall, update your drivers, etc).

If you really want your problem solved, I think you're better off at an actual tech help board. These people aren't qualified and have no credentials.

He has a point about posting in the Hardware/Software forum, but I disagree with his last comment about the people here being unqualified... some qualified people post in this forum. You're just much more likely to find qualified people in the Hardware/Software forum

Course, I wouldn't go post another thread about it, it might be better to send a private message to an admin or moderator and ask them nicely if they can move the thread.

And it might also benefit those that are trying to help if you can give as much information as possible about your computer, specifically the operating system you are running (Windows, I presume? Which version, and if it's XP, do you have Service Pack 2?), the type of motherboard you have (that will help us find out which BIOS you have), and the type of video card you have. Otherwise, unfortunately even the most qualified person can only give "cookie cutter answers" (guessing) like Legion described.

Anyways it was well tucked into a 3 diffrent menus but after scaning them all I found it, booted it and it stopped working to the moniter plug in the motherboard. and only to the video card. Now if you want to take actions like closing this thread, thread giving me and so forth its ok now. Man what a headache the past 3 days have been. well atleast i wont be paying some 20 inch lens freak today to hit a button like that

I'm glad you solved it. I don't know why a reformat changed it, to tell the truth.

Hmm... you know, if you had another monitor, you probably could set up dual monitors...

Also, cookie-cutter answers are quite often the OBVIOUS answers that people need, sadly enough.

LOL... yes. Yes they are.

I don't know how many times a day I have to give obvious, cookie-cutter answers to clients over the phone. Sometimes I can't believe how much trouble the clients have with those answers either... In fact, sometimes I can't believe how much trouble clients have with the Start Menu.

well it screwed up like that because i got rid of my older not in use hardrive for $30 witch was doing more damage then that and all the bios data was on that one.

Since I refomatted it I sould be able to get back onto the game servers again without any problems and that means less of me again.

Aye, glad you finally solved it; knew it had to be that. Was a waste of a post there in the HW/SW forum then on my part, .

Now the strange thing is, how did the reformatting of a hard drive suddenly enable onboard video? Even by removing an old hard drive it should not affect your BIOS' settings, as all of the saved values is stored in the CMOS. Strange.

HellSaviour -- I was wondering that myself.... the only way it could've happened is if Windows was set to ignore the onboard video in the original install.

Oh well... But yeah HellSaviour's right -- the BIOS doesn't save anything to the hard drive. It wouldn't matter what you do to the hard drive....

well I am angry now agian because it wasent on the onboard vga. it was on my newer agp video card. But when my dad disconnected the older hardrive he fried my new one and when i fixed it in the bios I had my old video card. So the bios or the CMOS did not change. the error was a human error. and that means that my dad wasted $150 for chistmas and now im stuck with my older card.
