well, I was downloading ShotOnline, an online golfing game, and had a few things open, then the computer went to the BSOD, so I just started the computer up again, the file I was downloading never finished, but since I am using firefox, it saved part of it on the desktop, and its just a blank exe file now, 0 bytes, but for some reason, it cant be deleted, it always says its in use, even after restarting, and trying to delete it before most things starts up...so I dont see what can be using it....does anyone else?

I don't really see what could be using it either I've had problems like that before, with different folders, but I was always able to delete them after I restarted the computer You could try downloading the file again, and with luck, Firefox would overwrite the file that's already on your desktop.

If that doesn't work, the only thing I can think of that would delete it would be to add this line to your autoexec.bat.

del c:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Desktop\[filename].exe

I know you're able to use that command on Windows 2000 or lower, but I'm not so sure about XP.

XP seems to have a problem deleting Empty and DOS .exe files. You can delete them by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL, closing explorer.exe, running CMD and entering the same command as Karadur said. When done you can just type "explorer" to make your desktop reappear.
