Only about 30 some real CDs, though I've burnt hundreds.

Yay for RHCP.

Er, unless you never buy CDs then it doesn't affect anybody. Those of us who use filsharing as a sampling service (try before you buy) can sleep easy. I have over a thousand mp3s on my computer, but most of it is stuff I wouldn't have even known about without the internet. Filesharing has induced me to give more money to the music industry than I would have without it, and I know I'm definitely not alone in that regard.
Sorry that I didn't explain it clearly enough, but what I meant: If all the people in the world downloaded music illegally, there would be no income for the CD-stores.

I bet you won't. I've heard that one before.

Well if everybody did nothing but that, then yeah. But it's been my experience that people only seem to do that with the huge mega-hit chart-topping stuff that everybody forgets about within a year anyway. Serious music fans tend to have at least a gut-level understanding that you can't do that, so they actually buy the CDs that they like. The general trend since filesharing has started has been for the major labels to lose money on their big popchart hitters (with an audience a mile wide and an inch deep, i.e. an audience that doesn't care enough about the music to buy it), but the industry as a whole has gained a lot more sales for less popular but high quality niche artists. (This is a really good Wired article on that pheonomenon, just by the way.)

I don't have a lot, I have about 15 cds. I don't usually buy cd's becuase, I mostly listen to my favorite songs online or on the radio. I really want to get a cd burner though, so all the songs I downloaded can go on my disk for free. Sometimes I hate buying cd's, when I only like one song on the soundtrack.

I'm like the majority of people here, who have ever only purchased about 30 cd's, but I've got about 200+ albums from constant burning.
