Actually they shipped a lot. But there were also a lot of people with preorders, so there were only a few available for non-preorderers. And by a few, I mean 100 or so.

Here's a collective summary of my birthday presents and christmas presents.

PowerBook G4 (the part of it that I hadn't saved up to yet)
Some new furniture (which hasn't arrived yet - a long overdue sofa with matching table and TV unit)
Money and various coupons
Books
Candy (mostly chocolate)

Christmas isn't as exciting, gift-wise, when you've already bought more games during the last quarter than you've gotten for the last three years, or when you've already gotten the laptop of your dreams first. It's still fun, relaxing and something to look forward to, though.

You've got disgusting dreams if your dream laptop is a PowerBook.

Without bringing up the whole Mac vs PC argument again, I can honestly say that the first week of using this has been a better experience than the first week of any other laptop I've owned or used regularly, including two that cost twice as much as this one. So even if it's not literally the laptop of my dreams (in my dreams, the slot-in DVD drive takes those small business card-size CDs noone ever uses, too, amongst other things), it's the closest anything has come yet.

Hence why I said HEARD I was exaggerating too.

I'm only a casual gamer, hence why I just traded in my Playstation for a PS2 this summer. PS2's been out for how many years now? I barely touch my gameboy, so I'm not terribly interested in the DS or a GBA. Probably going to be called a blashphmer for that.

Holy Knight: CD-R/DVD-R drive, eh? Enjoy it! Once I get my A+ certification, I plan to start building my own computer, and a CD-R/DVD-R drive is a must.

*waves*

I'm posting from Rando's laptop in the Pittsburgh International Airport. We're heading out to central Illinois by way of Chicago to spend a few days with a bunch of our friends for New Year's, and I so did not feel like driving 12 hours each way again (especially because it was hella snowy last year and the return trip took more like 15), so hooray for 1 1/2 hours in the air + a 2 hour drive to Bloomington (where our friends live). Our flight doesn't leave for over an hour and we found a random unsecured wireless network (11 Mbit/sec nonetheless), so here I am futzing around on teh intarweb.

Christmas presents aren't quite as interesting when you have disposable income and just buy stuff when you want it. I ordered us a pair of ankle-length Australian riding dusters (read: coats that look badass and are incredibly practical as well, especially because they're waterproof and they strap to your legs because you can ride a bike while wearing them), so I guess that's our present. We got some small gifts from our parents, but that's really about it.

Dude, Rydain, you'll be near where I am I think? I don't exactly remember where Bloomington is. Watch it be south of Rockford a ways with my luck.

As for my presents, even though I did mention it in another thread cuz I was lazy.

- Season 4 of Angel DVD and a $25 gift card to Hot Topic from my bf (Best gift ever)
- Dragon Ball GT: Final Bout from my bro
- A jewerly set consisting of a necklace, bracelet and earrings
- A, like, small coin purse with the initial 'C' which I'll NEVER use cuz I'm not into purses or junk like that

Aaaaand we're here. The flight was uneventful (which is, of course, A Good Thing) and we got awesome noodles along the way. Hilarity is already ensuing. Even more hilarity will ensue once more people start to arrive. There may be up to 40 people in this place. It is a rather large farmhouse type of place, but still. We're going to stay in a hotel when it starts to get crazy. Last year, 20something people had to share one bathroom, which isn't exactly fun.

Dark Vampriel - You're about 3 hours north of us. Bloomington is about 2 hours south of Chicago (or 1 1/2 if you're riding with Ernie, who did 80 mph most of the way ). It's basically in the middle of tons of flat farmland. That's OK, though, because we'll have plenty of people (and games) to keep us entertained.

NSNick - Yeppers...and we're very happy to have flown across. The first time my friends had their New Year's gathering, they put up directions that included something like "Drive across Ohio. Be bored out of your mind." Seriously, no matter which major highway (70 or 80) you choose, you don't have to do anything along the way. We drove last year and I was practically falling asleep. It didn't help that it was nighttime and, as a result, there was absolutely nothing of interest to look at. Hooray for teh airplane.

If you take 90, you go through Cleveland (and my town).

But yeah, the rest of Ohio is pretty boring. Though not as boring as Indiana.
