can anyone help me?
alright here's what's happening.
1. First I stick the disk in after cleaning it
2. The Gamecube either doesn't notice the disk, or it say the disk cannot be read.
3. And any other game works!

so what am I doing wrong? Please help me! the game isn't even a month old yet.

It's most likely painfully obvious, but something's wrong with your game If none of your other games worked, I'd say it was something with your Gamecube, but when one specifically doesn't work, it's something wrong with the disc.

Where have you been storing the game while you weren't playing it? I'd assume in the game box (that's where I keep mine, and it's still working fine), but it may not be. Take a look at it and see if there's any big scratches on the bottom. If there are, or if there aren't, I'd advise trying to exchange your copy of the game, or get a refund if you still have the receipt.

One last question for you: how long ago did this start happening to your game?

Sometimes when games are relased, there's a small bunch that are defective. I saw this problem with a bunch of GTA San Andreas games, among others. Now you say that this game isn't that old. How much time have you played it and how long since then, did you notice this problem? Most stores will take the game back as a defective item, provided that you still have the receipt. Some places might take the game back and exchange it for the same game without the receipt, but I believe that is pretty rare. One good thing about the holidays, is that the return policy is a bit longer than usual. So hopefully you can get a new game in exchange for the defective one.

How did you clean your disk. If you used something like Kleenex to wipe it off - bad idea.

Nintendo's usually pretty good about repairs. If you send them the game they'll probably replace it cheap, or even free if they find out it's defective.

When you start it up, does it just start the usual boot sequence and come up with an error message, or does it go through the logo animation? If it won't even get past the logo, the disc's barcode is probably bad. (Look at the bottom, you'll see a ring that goes most of the way around near the hole in the middle - NOT the black barcode on the thin layer. This is what the Gamecube uses to verify the discs.) If it happens when it's trying to start, it's probably some other part of the disc. That might help you find the problem, if it's something minor. (If the barcode is scratched, AFAIK, it's hopeless, since that area isn't real data.)

Sometimes the error message pops up, and sometimes it goes through the animation, not noticing the disk in the Gamecube.

EDIT: Yay! It works again! All I did was get my cousins to test it in another GCN, and when they brought it back, it worked! so someone can close this thread now.

Oh, I was just going to say that your G-Cube is broken.....
The same thing happened to me and all I did was buy a new G-cube after that problem happened to my old one.
Speaking of which, do they make the orange color for G-cubes, or is that color just for the controllers?
