None of these are really anything special despite my efforts, I'm affraid (expecialy the RU/SA team )...so any and all suggestions are well open.

Here's the fire red team, that does pretty damn good...right up until Lance (still..cant...beat)

Gengar:
Shadow Punch
Explosion
Destiny Bond
Shadow Ball

Poliwrath:
Body Slam
Rain Dance
Surf
Hydro Pump

Exeggutor:
Sunny Day
Giga Drain
Psychic
Solar Beam

Hitmonlee:
Strength
Hi Jump Kick
Earthquake
Mega Kick

Charizard:
Fire Blast
Blast Burn
Flamethrower
Fly

Golbat (would be Crobat but refuses to evolve until I get national dex ):
Double-Edge
Poison Fang
Toxic
Aerial Ace

then, the RU/SA team....don't be too hard on them, theres at least one insanely powerful guy in there...

Walrein (Powerhouse mofo):
Blizzard
Surf
Rest
Aurora Beam

Electrode:
Rollout
Thunder
Selfdestruct
Swift

Houndoom:
Faint Attack
Howl
Smog
Flamethrower

Machamp:
Revenge
Strength
Vital Throw
Karate Chop

Noctowl:
Steel Wing
Hypnosis
Take Down
Fly

Feraligatr:
Rain Dance
Scary Face
Slash
Surf

....yeah. I'm not too proud of that last team as stated, I'm open to any and all suggestions. Really. (as I'm normally quite decent in pokemon strategy, the advanced series seems to just hate me on so many levels)

Where is effort?

Dusclops (Pressure), equipped with Leftovers
Adamant nature (+Attack, -Special Attack)
Focus Punch
Shadow Ball
Will-o-Wisp
Pain Split
252 HP EVs
130 Attack EVs
64 Defense EVs
64 Special Defense EVs

Comments: mostly bog standard but with a few mods to give it some better attack so it doesn't have to switch out as often as normal. It still has awesome defense so...

Skarmory (Sturdy), equipped with Leftovers
Impish nature (+Defense, -Special Attack)
Drill Peck
Roar
Spikes
Toxic
252 HP EVs
6 Attack EVs
252 Defense EVs

Comments: Complete standard, heh.

Medicham (Pure Power), equipped with Choice Band
Jolly nature (+Speed, -Special Attack)
Brick Break
Focus Punch
Rock Slide
Shadow Ball
6 HP EVs
252 Attack EVs
252 Speed EVs

Comments: Also standard, but in all fairness, I was using him before just about everyone else.

Milotic (Marvel Scale), equipped with Leftovers
Bold nature (+Defense, -Attack)
Surf
Ice Beam
Hypnosis
Recover
252 HP EVs
100 Defense EVs
58 Special Attack EVs
100 Special Defense EVs

Comments: This one isn't QUITE the standard, it was tweaked somewhat to fit a specific role, heh.

Blissey (Natural Cure), equipped with Leftovers
Bold nature (+Defense, -Attack)
Heal Bell
Softboiled
Ice Beam
Toxic
252 HP EVs
252 Defense EVs
6 Special Defense EVs

Comments: I made this one a long, long time ago, but not before they were hugely standard. Still, it's a fairly unusual moveset that has always served me well.

Suicune (Pressure), equipped with Leftovers
Bold Nature (+Defense, -Attack)
Surf
Calm Mind
Roar
Rest
252 HP EVs
252 Defense EVs
6 Speed EVs

Comments: One faster than most Suicunes so it can avoid being roared out by them by roaring them out instead. I figured I probably wouldn't need Spec Att and Spec Def with calm mind so I concentrated on letting it survive physical attacks. The set's standard though, no doubt about that.

Now for something a little different: 2vs2 team!

Metagross (Clear Body), equipped with Choice Band
Adamant Nature (+Attack, -Special Attack)
Explosion
Earthquake
Sludge Bomb
Meteor Mash
6 HP EVs
252 Attack EVs
252 Speed EVs

Comments: Only Explosion, and *VERY* Rarely Earthquake (That is to say that I could have to use it at some point, but never have) ever get used. The others are complete filler.

Gengar (Levitate), equipped with Spell Tag (You heard me. Spell Tag.)
Jolly nature (+Speed, -Special Attack)
Shadow Ball
Sludge Bomb
Protect
Explosion
6 HP EVs
252 Attack EVs
252 Speed EVs

Comments: It's purpose is pretty simple: Survive one turn, then explode. Shadow Ball takes out other Gengars (strangely, the only ghost anyone ever uses for 2vs2) and does a little more damage than normal thanks to Spell Tag which is welcome because really what else would I put there. Otherwise it can protect. Sludge Bomb is STAB (that's Same Type Attack Bonus, for those unfamiliar with the nomenclature) filler but has seen use... It just doesn't happen often.

Aerodactyl (Rock Head), equipped with Choice Band
Jolly nature (+Speed, -Special Attack)
Earthquake
Ancientpower (Rock Slide sucks in 2vs2)
Hidden Power Flying (The one that sacs everything else so speed is uncompromised)
Double-Edge
6 HP EVs
252 Attack EVs
252 Defense EVs

Comments: I guess due to the nature of 2vs2, it almost always uses either Ancientpower, or Earthquake. Usually Ancientpower. Either way, this guy takes an explosion from Gengar (albeit is reduced to ridiculously low HP) as long as it's not a critical hit, and he does lots of damage with his attacks. Very useful.

Charizard (Blaze), equipped with White Herb
Naive nature (+Speed, -Special Defense
Swords Dance
Earthquake
Ancientpower
Overheat
6 HP EVs
252 Attack EVs
252 Speed EVs

Comments: The only problem with this guy is the fact that Earthquake pretty much screws me once Aerodactyl faints. Medi just can't take a swords danced quake, which reduces me to my lesser-powered moves, so I invariably turn to Overheat. This is almost never a problem since I'm generally ahead 4-2 when this guy enters play, though, and Earthquake can be a match-ender if there are electrics and fires out there, which is why I keep it.

Jirachi (Serene Grace), equipped with Leftovers
Calm Mind
Wish
Psychic
Thunder
252 HP EVs
252 Defense EVs
6 Special Attack EVs

Comments: Jirachi is the backup plan. Should Gengar die for whatever reason before Meta explodes, Jira takes a hit from Meta's CB'd explosion and either due to opponent stupidity or awesome planning, somehow always manages to wish himself back to full HP. I pretty much play the game in reverse from there. Normally, though, he finishes weak opponents off with his unbelievable defenses. Thunder is over Thunderbolt because of it's higher chance of paralyzing, combined with Serene Grace, means a 60% chance of paralyzing (lowered to 47%, though, because of Thunder's accuracy). The rest of the set is obvious.

Medicham (Pure Power), equipped with Lum Berry
Jolly nature (+Speed, -Special Attack)
Brick Break
Focus Punch
Hidden Power Rock
Shadow Ball
6 HP EVs
252 Attack EVs
252 Speed EVs

Comments: Yeah... This guy's on pretty much every team I've ever made. Lum Berry because in double battle it's pretty necessary to be able to switch attacks and due to his low speed he suffers more than Aero and Meta. HP Rock over Rock Slide because Rock Slide hits both pokes for half power, and that's not something I'm comfortable with (Same with Ancientpower > Rock Slide for the Aero and Zard). Along with Jirachi, he's normally used to finish already weak opponents. Sometimes people will go after Jirachi exclusively due to keep it from powering up, and since I'm pretty good at predicting opponent moves Focus Punch hits them.

It's been a Loooooong time.... but:

Red Version Team of Death:

Jolteon:
Thunder
Pin Missile
Double Kick
Thunderbolt

Mewtwo:
Psychic
Recover
Hyper Beam
Swift

Arcanine:
Fire Blast
Hyper Beam
Flamethrower
Take Down

Blastoise:
Hydro Pump
Surf
Skull Bash
Blizzard

Nidoking:
Earthquake
Body Slam
Horn Drill
Hyper Beam (God bless TM duplication)

Scyther:
Wing Attack
Fly
Slash
Agility

So as you can see, this is a very, very old, vintage 1998 Pokemon Red version team. I spent literal days just leveling them all up, and got ultra pissed at the game many times, but I managed to get them all to be very strong and waited as long as possible before Rare Candying them all, like level 80-85.

Also, is it true that Rare Candies don't give as much stat progression as natural leveling does? Cause I remember the item duplication trick and such from the original red version, and I thought it was useful for stuff like Master Balls and such. But I wasn't too sure about the Rare Candies. Obviously I'm a cheap bastard for using it, but eventually I just wanted a squad that was strong enough for Pokemon Stadium.

Then I quit and sold my Red Version anyway.

I'm currently working my way through Ruby (when on the can ), here's what I have at the moment:

Castform
-Thunderbolt
-Shadow Ball
-Rain Dance
-Sunny Day
I mainly use this guy for his weather-changing abilities, to tip the scales in my advantage. If need be, though, he can defend himself with Thunderbolt and Shadow Ball, two damn good moves.

Pelipper:
-Blizzard
-Steel Wing
-Shock Wave
-Fly
I generally try to balance out my types, having as many as possible for each Pok

Well the thing is, Grey. Levelling up through combat also gives you stat experience points. Rare Candies don't have you battle so they don't. However, in the non-advance game you can just do the exact same thing to the stat-increasing items (Protein, Calcium, etc.) And have them get just as strong. In Advance, you have the whole effort system, which is much more complicated, but meh you'd screw it up by battling against anything and everything anyway. And in advance, once you've maxed out your effort, there's no reason not to use rare candies.

If this is stickied, I could imagine NetBattle gaining popularity on this board

I beat someone using my team, which really blows as it is all over the place (but I changed it to include Cradily and Slowbro opposed to Gardevoir and Tentacruel). But he was impressed by the fact he just couldn't fucking guess what was coming out next. Skarmory first turn. "Dammit, not one of these". He had a Kyogre in play. Roared that fucker out quick.I use the Spikes, send out a cradily because he sends in a Skarmory. Trys to Roar me away, doesn't work, I manage to hit him around a bit. Cradily dies when a really strong Groudon is played. Out comes my special sweeper Slowbro. One surf, dead. Next up is a militank. I hated that bastard so much, but he decided to teach it Hyperbeam for some F'd up reason. Thank you Counter + Blastoise tank... Kyogre comes out again, Slowbro is ready with Thunder. The Spikes that were out did sufficient damage and a critical hit Thunder basically did it in. Slowbro is still in. Out comes Sceptile. This was a hard battle, but I got lucky when his solar beam missed. I managed to get him with an ice beam and freeze him. Freakin' lucky because Freeze clause wasn't on. I then proceeded to give another ice beam to death. Left without pokemon he sends in Skarmory, poisons Slowbro, I get a Thunder in. He manages to do enough damage to a damaged slowbro to kill it. So, out comes my beloved Kyogre, he dies.

I'm building up a high defense variable sweeper team now Which means only tanks can throw stuff back at me. And I'm going to put an anti-tank in there. Plus, I've got a hazer tank. So
