I think it's a Goomba in Link's Awakening, where Link goes into that side-scrolling mode. It makes sense, considering that it plays out like a platformer.

But Podoboo only appeared in Zelda: Link's Awakening, not the original.

Also, Pokey made an appearance in LA, I believe.

Karadur gets the point, even though he didn't get the name exactly right... The 'Mermaid Suit' from Oracle of Ages is actually a mermaid tail anyway, and it turns Link into a mermaid and allows some *serious* swimming ability.
