Alright, lets get this going. Nice and simple, a quiz about the Zelda series, no specific game boundaries unless specified in the question (newer releases such as FSA and Minish Cap shall be mostly ignored at this stage).

We'll start with a very basic and very simple question. The first person to get the correct answer gets the point.

1 - What year was the original The Legend of Zelda released to the US?

Just incase it isn't all obvious, some ground rules... One guess per question from each person, no editing your response, and I will not tell anyone if they're right or wrong until the correct answer is given. Just assume if I don't say 'correct' that you're wrong. If a question is left for too long with no correct answers I may move on to the next question, but hopefully that won't be required much.

Hmmm, I'm thinking that it was released after Super Mario Bros., so... I'm thinking that it was released in 1986... Not too sure about it though.

Slightly harder this time...

2 - How many dungeons are there to be explored in A Link to the Past? By 'dungeon', I am refering to every indoor section that has it's own seperate map that you press X to view (but not necessarily having a Dungeon Map to collect).

I'm pretty sure that there are 12 dungeons that there are to explore, but I might be missing one more. Still, I'm sticking with my answer of 12...

14 dungeons are in the game. Althought it depends if you count all the Hyrule castle dungeons as one, it would be 12.

Still, thoose are dungeons are sepearte techincally. So I count it as 14.

Correct, by my definition of 'dungeon' it is 14. Hyrule Castle is one, Escaping Hyrule Castle is another (sewers and the Sanctuary), and Hyrule Castle Tower is another.
Then there are three Light World dungeons, and eight Dark World dungeons.

3 - Which Zelda games followed each other directly in release *and* storyline?

Zelda: Ocarina of time and Zelda: The Wind waker.

(and Majoras mask is inbetween thoose two in both story and release. But it's more a sidestep than anything. Like with Links awakning.)

Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask.

(Kitten Yiffer, Wind Waker does not follow the MM storyline, it branches from the future of OoT.)

The Legend of Zelda and Adventures of Link.

Also, it is debateable that Link's Awakening follows A Link to the Past, but this is not stated anywhere.

I'm not gonna guess since I'm not too sure myself, but remember there is a rule about editing, so any other participants who try for an answer. Be sure about that answer before you type it and send it.

Kitten Yiffer, NO EDITING. I'll ignore your answer whatever it says.

Trapster, this is for Zelda fans, you've barely played any. Get out from under your rock and then come back. >.>

I won't usually say this, but since I'm not saying 'correct' to anybody, you can assume there are no correct answers.

Alright, I'll try my hand at it and since it kind of makes sense. I think that the Oracle of Ages and the Oracle of Seasons are the two titles...

Wait that doesn't make sense. It's stated that Adventures of Link comes right after Legend of Zelda in the manual, isn't it? Plus I thought the Oracle games were released simultaneously...

Gah I see why my answer was wrong now, Zelda DX was released just after OoT

The original Link's Awakening, however, was not (It came out after ALttP).

And isn't this one of those pointless questions, because everyone now has pretty much their own theory on how the timeline goes?

I'm confident that Adventure of Link followed Legend of Zelda in both. Beyond that, I don't know, so I guess I have to hope that and only that is the answer.

There are two sets:

LoZ and LoZ II: AoL
LoZ: OoT and LoZ: MM

I shall give Kyouji the point on this occasion because he spotted the error in his answer.

AoL follows LoZ in plot, that's generally not a subject to debate.

While LA can be debated, it makes FAR more sense if it follows ALttP for a variety of reasons (such as official art, the appearance of Agahnim and Ganon in the battle with the final Nightmares and simply because they were released one after the other and there's no real reason why they shouldn't follow). I think most people consider these as following each other in plot.

MM does follow on from OoT, however LA DX was released inbetween, so bam goes that plan.

I would of accepted the Oracle games in the answer although they were released at identical times.

Kyouji gets it, because I'm feeling generous and he got closest to what I was going for.
