Doh..I swear, I do this at work too....I cross my dates...

Grand Turismo was set to come out the 24th of this month (now the 22nd). This is what I get when I work too much.

We already have it in our computers that we're getting solo units....but there is nothing in the computers about the bundle pack yet (save for an e-mail).

Ok!

A Dutch shop here listed Mario Kart DS on 14th of May...maybe you can check that at your work too? Would be great if this date is correct.

the PSP will do well whether i like it or not. many of the sony fans will by it reagardless. they will not care wether it has a low battery life or about its inpracticality. so there is not much that can be done about that but the ds will not fail simply because of two facts its out there first and will make a big impression and two because nintendo have been doing handhelds since 1989. they no what they are doing.

They have the market penetration and they have the big titles coming out soon (Wario Ware comes out this week I think). Plus the DS has sold well (more than Nintendo thought it would) so it has a good head start.

I know that the PSP is going to have a big first shipment, but then we'll just have to play the waiting game. The key thing for Sony is that they have to sell out that first shipment in a matter of days. If for some strange reason that doesn't happen... uh-oh.

I can't believe this article is real.

http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/01/24/news_6116985.html

"This is the design that we came up with. There may be people that complain about its usability, but that's something which users and game software developers will have to adapt to."

Kutaragi has a lot of courage to not only take a piss on the consumers, but also the developers. Seeing Kutaragi as a businessman, I can't believe he even made some of these statements. With 4,800 Japanese PSP systems being returned for square button problems, there is a serious issue here. And he is telling everyone to adapt? I actually thought the article was a joke at first.

Yeah, that says a lot. That stick that just fell off the tree outside my window is better than the N-Gage as well.

I honestly think the PSP had potential in theory, then with the actual "schematics" of it and such lowered it probability of doing very well. Sony fanboys and a few others will buy it, then discover problems or something and want their money back. Some will be perfectly happy with it and never complain. As bad as it may sound, my hope for this system is that it kicks sony out of portable gaming entirely, but who really knows right?

I don't think the PSP is horrible, I just think Kutaragi is an idiot and PSP could have been executed better. Here's to hoping the United States release will have less problems.

Well, they say the two main problems will be fixed (the square button and flying discs) for the American release. I don't see how the square button will be fixed unless they redesign it, which they don't have time to do.

They're doing some square button fixes in Japan as well I think.

They're saying they'll just remove some plastic, but... I thought... it couldn't be fixed.

I don't think Kutaragi is an idiot but I think he doesn't always think before opening his mouth. The "I believe we made the most beautiful thing in the world." quote is just mind-boggling.

Lions Gate Entertainment announced it will release a selection of movies that can be played on Sony Corp.'s PSP handheld device, making it the first film company to support the new format that isn't related to Sony.

LGE will make such titles as "Saw," "Open Water" and "The Punisher," available along with some older titles such as "Total Recall" and "Rambo: First Blood."

You know what? I have a portable DVD player with a larger screen and better sound. I got it for 200 dollars.

I got my DS for 200 dollars.

I got my music device for 300 dollars.

These three things have greater use to me than PSP does due to their unique purpose that they are designed to fulfill. Making giant combo devices pisses off the tech-suavy consumer who want to look cool having all the seperate devices. That and I will soon have a laptop. Far bettah than the PSP.

You know, maybe some people might buy the movies for their PSP if there was, like, a better selection. I know that there'll be more to choose from if it takes off, but yeesh.

You know, people would probably use the feature if it supported real DVD's.

Ok!

I don't understand the whole "movie on UMD" thing. Remember those MDs Sony had in the past with music on it? Never became a succes, did it? Now, it won't either since people can also play movies on PSP using their memory stick. So they could simply convert their DVD movie to MP4. So why buy it on UMD?

I have a feeling that there is going to be a way around that. Like a burner that can burn movies to make them work in the PsP, and heck, maybe even the Ps2 games aswell. Of course, you're prob gonna need a chip too....

Bad news today - the European PSP release was delayed for "several months" today to ensure that Sony can "meet demand".

In other words, sounds like the classic "we can't supply America with enough units so we'll screw over Europe" argument. Nintendo must be happy.

And DS broke sales records in UK... you know. That could hurt Sony alot, and the DS seems to attract people that aren't intresting in gaming either.

I hadn't heard about the sales in Sweden, but I know this is a Nintendo friendly country... :/
