Grand Theft Auto 4 has an UNGODLY load time, and remind me again how much people like that game?

I was just saying... load times and battery life can deter from something no matter what; it just depends if people'll tolerate it.

Well, if you pair BOTH of them together (say, 30 second load times AND 3 hours of battery life), it's gonna deter a few people from buying the system.

I guess the easiest solution is to buy a second battery pack but lord knows if those'll be affordable - or attainable at first.

That's surely true. Though I still don't like the fact that you have loading times on a hand-held, or any console for that matter. Also, because I think those cards Nintendo is using are big enough for 3D games. They are 4 times bigger than N64 cards and look how Zelda OOT played (without loading times)...

I just recently got this Movie Player. Awesome, I can put a complete movie of 2 hours in about 200mb (thanks to the low resolution of the GBA screen) with decent quality. Seeing that, I can imagine some Playstation games to be ported on DS. I still have this feeling that Square will come up with a Final Fantasy VII remake somewhere...

Loading time is actually on the devolopers too, Gamecube games and probably X-box ones too seem to have faster loading time than Playstation 2 (I have no idea about PSP's loading times, keep that in mind...). But at the same time, it's on the devloper too. I have seen a few Gamecube games, mainly multiconsoles ones that takes ages to load. (anything above three seconds is long loading time for me...)

You know, I may wind up buying a PSP too. Why must I just have one? But it depends on if there is games that caughts my attention. (I was honestly planning to buy a PS2)

My two cents, portable gaming is about quick, reliable, and easy gaming on the go, lugging around a whole bunch of cd cases and you PSP, waiting for you games to load, and not knowing how long your batteries are gonna last doesn't match any of those traits. Yet for some reason I'm not the biggest fan of the DS either, more because it's signaling the end of classic sidescrolling action... I guess there's alway emulation and my SP.

Untill some kind of unscratchable disc media is made (I think there's one in the works, but not for PSP), I'll stick with cartridges. Every cartridge system I've owned (handheld or otherwise) have given me games that I can still play if I drop their games, scratch the games, etc etc... Discs are great, but not for a handheld. The media just scratches too easily, and for an 'on the go' system, the media is bound to move around alot as well. I'd hate to buy a game, drop it accidentally, and it's garbage. Cartridges are getting better, can hold more data, don't scratch as easily, require less (or almost none) loading times, and don't need a spinning/reading drive to suck away my battery life.

That's rather old news.. (2004-08-25).. And now that Microsoft owns Rare.. it's pretty oblivious the DS will get a crappy EA GoldenEye game.. Cause EA are only good to kill good frenchises.. Never a James Bond game from them was up to the one rare made years ago... and probably never will. It's kinda sad Rare was bought by Microsoft to start with.

Oh, I know you'll have fanboys picking up the PSP. That happens with EVERY system out there.
