This was the Gamecube, not the badass DS, and it's outselling the PS2 by 20%.
OK...

1) What makes you think GC v. PS2 is an indicator of how DS v. PSP will pan out. Just company names?

2) That article was from 10/8/03, when Nintendo had lowered their prices and Sony hadn't yet.

3) The GC selling 20% more was just for that week.

Also keep in mind that Soul Caliber II was released not too long before that.

Also keep in mind that SCII was released for all three of those consoles.

1) What makes you think GC v. PS2 is an indicator of how DS v. PSP will pan out. Just company names?

Why do you think people liked the PSP before they even saw a PSP? Same goes for the DS; a lot of this is just people being superficial towards brandnames.

I mean, weren't we just talking about the PS vs. N64?

And ALSO keep in mind that each version of SCII came with a special character. The Gamecube version came with Link and was the most successful version and it subsequently skyrocketed the Gamecube to the number one console slot, if only for a short time.

I'd like to see proof on the SCII connection - I think the Gamecube version sold the most copies, but I don't know how much impact it had on the console race.

I don't know about the PSP... Nintendo got a really good head start in North America, and there's the battery issue which is a concern of everyone. It's not too bad if you're playing a puzzle game, but the more power the game uses, the faster the pack drains. Either Sony has to find a way to pack more juice into the pack or find ways to ease the burden of games on the PSP. The fact that battery issues are up to the developers isn't a great sign.

*rolls eyes* Some people will never change.

Sony will end up taking a piece of the market share but Nintendo will still end up with the bigger piece, at least at the end of '05.

Right, that's why I think Nintendo wanted to get the DS out at the end of 2004, so people would know about it by 2005, rather than just learning about it. Plus, the holiday season .

PSP is going to get a market share because of drooling morons. It is poorly designed. It is ruining what made hand-held gaming fun, etc.

Every company had their flops... Some defects aren't going to make the console sold less or anything, as they will overcome their flaws.. Depends on the company of course.. But my guess, is that with time, Sony might get a goood share of the portable console domain.. Nintendo wasn't built in two days...

Leave them time, and I'm sure Sony will pond us something good.. if it isn't the PSP, then it'll be something else... Who can forget what was supposed to be a new revolutionary system.. The Nintendo Virtual Boy.. that was utterly crap..

Ok!

Here are the first sales of the new systems in Japan. Note however that Sony didn't release much PSPs due to big production problems. Nintendo is leading anyway for now.

Link: http://www.the-magicbox.com/topten.htm

As for the battery life. IGN tested the battery life of the PSP. You can play about 2.5 hours Ridge Racers with WIFI. But on the other side, you can play 10 hours MP3s...so it just differs.

There is a Final Fantasy VII spin-off announced for PSP. Though, it will be more of an Action game, not an RPG. It's called Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. And yes, this is a different game than Before Crisis.

(Source: IGN)

And people, stop the stupid discussions. Everybody knows that Playstation sold much more than the latest Nintendo consoles. Though Nintendo sells much more than XBOX in Japan. (see the console chart above )

If Advent Children is going to be released on DVD, then I only have two reasons to get a PSP...

Vampire Chronicle.
Crisis Core.

Ok!

Did anyone already notice that the PSP has loading times? IGN (again) tested some games...some of them took almost 30 seconds to load...

My thoughts are this. I think Sony created a great hand-held, technically. Though, it's released too early. Battery and speed aren't really enough at the moment to play those games on the go. In a few years it will be much better I guess...but that doesn't help the PSP.

Otherwise, thanks to Nintendo, Sony has to lower it's price for the PSP now. So, you'll get a great hand-held, which would otherwise have been much more expensive, for a low price. Competition is a nice thing.

Still, my vote goes to DS for now...but maybe it will change when the PSP gets some great games. I'm not that impressed yet with the games released for both systems...

Kirby PopStar, okay, so I might have gotten the name wrong. I was going from memory from what I read at work a few days ago, but as Impala mentioned, there is a FF& spin-off game for the PSP and that's what I was talking about.

See this folks? This is a classic example of trying too hard. windwanker, just give it up already ok?

For starters, look up both "sarcasm" and "satire". But especially "satire". It might do you some good. If you seriously think I would buy a DS if they removed one of the screens, then I think you literally have brain damage. (That is, if there's anything to damage at all.)

Secondly, I wasn't complaining about it having two screens. I just said it didn't thrill me unlike so many others out there. I just don't understand why people are freaking out saying that having two screens is some kind of godly pro point to the handheld. Personally, I don't need or want two screens thus it doesn't appeal to me.

Far from complaining.

And for my piece of advice to you: Stop trying so hard. If you want to make me look bad then just have patience and maybe, just maybe, it might happen someday. But it's not going to work with the plan you have now, that is, to actively seek it out. It's just going to make you look foolish in the end as it has now and several times in the past few weeks. Give it a rest, ok?

And that, is nothing to ecks dee at.
