I really liked Chobits by CLAMP. I've started to read some other CLAMP books.
So far I've started to read:
The One I love
Tokyo Babylon
Legal Drug
XXXholic
I also like the Suidoken III series, probably because I really enjoyed the game. I started reading Love Hina. I'm enjoying it, but not quite what I usually like to read.

Based on this, does any one have any recommendations for good manga? I'd really like to read more manga. Does anyone know of any other CLAMP books that are good? Or even any other manga that is good?

Alice 19th is a good manga that I've gotten into. Also, like Trapster suggested Ranma 1/2 is a good series. I've lost count on which ones I've read and which ones I haven't for that series.

My personal fav. so far for a manga is Hellsing.

LOVE HINA
Dragon Ball
Hell Sing
Ghost in the Shell
Akira
Naruto

But given your tastes, you're a Clamp man and I'm not too big of a fan. I'd suggest Slam Dunk! or Prince of Tennis myself, but I just have a fetish of sorts for the hilarity of Sports Manga.

Get Backers owns all. Seriously, owns all. Also, the Hellsing manga is very interesting.

I'd also suggest Lupin III. I didn't much like the anime, but the manga is extremely clever, and well done. Not a fan of the art style, though...

Thank you for all the suggestions. I'll probably end up buying alot of the books that you've recommended when I return to the US. It's so expensive buying them and then shipping them to the UK.

My personal fave is "Battle Royale" but that may be a bit too gory for your tastes.

Oh and as for importing them, have you considered Amazon.co.uk? I find it pretty cheap....

Fruits Basket.

That's my current favorite. It's like the anime (if you've seen it) early, but the series is a lot darker and goes beyond what is shown in the series.

That has a cute storyline for the anime, but the manga is scary I like Maison Ikkokou and FLCL and Trigun for their animes more than their mangas. Although the manga-anime is pretty even.

Here's something good to know;
there is a lot more violence/nudity in manga.
For that reason, Berserk and Fist of the North Star are great picks.
Then there are just plain interesting things to read like Iron Wok Jan.
Also, if you love samurai stuff, you can always read Blade of the Immortal(fantasy mixed w/samurai), Vagabond(Interesting look on the most famous samurai in Japanese history, Miyamoto Musashi!-- wrote a paper on him), and finally there's Lone Wolf and Cub.(It's a fictional story about a father and son living in feudal japan as assassin samurai)

With "scary" do you mean certain relevations about the head of the Sohma family? Cause that's taking me some getting used to....

As for the FLCL Manga, I've seen it, but it didn't look real good, so I didn't buy it.

Well Snow Drop, Boys Over Flowers, Mars and Fruits Basket are some good picks. I haven't got too much into Fruits Basket yet but I like it so far . I think Snow Drop is a Korean manga but it's done by Tokyo Pop. It takes some time to develop but it gets better. Love Hina is a good one! Forgot because I only read a little . I haven't read much of Clamp

I read all of Mars and that was pretty good I'd have to say. Fruits Basket is neat. I like the idea that's presented in the manga. Also, I've seen some episodes and it was more interesting cuz I'm used to the manga right away. Boys Over Flowers... well I surely got into that series really fast and it's pretty interesting to me.

First of all I gotta say that I love that layout!
Currently Im reading Volume 1 of Bleach. Its similar to Yu Yu Hakusho in certain ways but I wouldnt really compare them.

Why its called Bleach? I have no idea. The main character is Ichigo aka Strawberry...why hes called Strawberry? I have no idea.

Anyways Ichigo was born with the ability to see ghosts. His father is abusive (in a comical way) and he has two sisters who can see ghosts as well but only in blurs. Ichigo can communicate and evern touch ghosts.

I wont poil anything but basically the plot has to do with these beings called Hallows which are like super evil monster ghosts. And "Soul Reepers" who are in charge of basically killing all the Hallows that pop up. Those a serious of events Ichigo ends up becoming a Soul Reeper and his adventures begin...

Heres a little sample....

I personally think that the MANGA ONLY of Bleach is very mediocre. Without dialogue and color(both in art and emotion), the characters aren't as lively as they are in the anime. It's simply not that interesting to me as a manga. The anime is much better in my opinion. And it's called Bleach because he bleaches his hair. They're also not "hallows", but hollows. And Yuzu, the younger sister can't see ghosts, only Karin can.

Good manga? Wow. I'm an addict

But yeah, I really like the Confidential confessions series, but they're kinda dark (drugs, rape, prostitution, etc.)Darkside Blues was good too, albeit a little confusing.

Peach Girl was a series I really liked, but it's ended now, typical high school love triangle sort of story. Paradise Kiss, Naruto and Flame of Rekka look to be really good as well, though I haven't gotten far enough in either to say.

Others I've heard are good but I plan to read:
Clover
Love Hina
Trigun
Fruits Basket
Bastard
Priest
Midori no hibi
Hikaru no go
Model
Under the Glass Moon
Vampire Games
X
Ranma 1/2
Akira
Crescent Moon
Tenjou Tenge
Negima: Master Negi Negi
Snow Drop
Kodocha
DN Angel
Demon Diaries
Angel Sanctuary
Revolutionary Girl Utena

Some of the ones in that list are already mentioned in here, forgive me for it. That should give you plenty to dig through though.

Am I the only one who prefers manga to anime majority of the time?

Yami No Matsuei aka Descendants Of Darkness by Matsushita Yoko is a great manga. Not only is the story wonderfully addicting, but the art work is just . . . amazing, to put it lightly.
