Overall I'd easily give both games a 10 out of 10. But personally, I felt Prime 2 wasn't as groundbreaking or cool as the first Prime. I know the graphics were nearly the same, but it still felt a little off in some ways. I also didn't enjoy the music as much. The themes in the game were in no way actually -bad-, I just enjoyed the more up beat tunes in the first Prime. Prime just seemed to be more of a classic, similar to Super Metroid, yet still very different it just felt like a more completed and more satisfying Metriod game. Prime gets my vote. Again, I don't regret ever spending 50$ on Prime 2, it's still a 10 out of 10 game in my book, just ranks under the original. |

Sad to say I just don't dig the Metroid Primes. I believe Metroid should have stayed in the "sidescrolling" genre. First persons are a turn off for me for some reason. X_X;; Super Metroid remains to be my favorite Metroid of all time. |

Well, since I've only played Metroid Prime so far, I'll go with that for now, but I won't vote yet. I'll wait till I get to play Echoes, then decide which one I like the best Originally posted by Hurricane Ivan Interesting. I liked the first-person / 3D view more than the sidescrolling one I really don't see how they could've done a 2D Metroid game on the Gamecube well either The only Gamecube sidescroller I've got right now is Megaman: Network Transmission, and although it's alright, I thought it could've been better. From what I gathered, it's supposed to come after Battle Network 1, and although the GBA games were somewhat 3D, I still liked them more that way. Of course, this thread isn't about Megaman In short, Metroid Prime is my favorite for the time being. |

I'd have to say that Prime certainly was incredible. I haven't tried Echoes yet, but maybe Santa will be good to me this year.

Prime... hands down, more classic Metroid feel, Echoes was grand but I just loved the Prime feel, and I seem to like both the sidescrollers and FPA styles equally.

For the record, Super Metroid is my personal favorite too, I enjoy the sidescrolling aspect more myself. .... But Prime 1 and 2 were indefinitely awesome games, sidescrolling or not, classics in my opinion. |

Because of this, I would rank all the metroid games in the order of... Any Metroid game that breaks new ground is good in my opinion. I haven't played anything but the demo version of Prime 2, but I've played and beaten every other Metroid game. As far as I'm concerned, they hit their creative peak at Super Metroid. It's not that Super Metroid is that great (well yeah it is... but) it's more like it's the beginning of Metroid games as we know them. Hopefully Prime 2 will mix it up a bit. I plan on buying it soon. |

I like the Prime games but I don't think of them as the same thing at all as the sidescrolling ones. I'm not saying they didn't do a good job translating the series into 3D, but they couldn't have been the same, and they weren't. I prefer the 2D ones, but I play them for entirely different reasons. Anyway, this isn't about 2D vs. 3D metroid, and I don't have any tangible preference between the Primes, so I won't vote. I'm a rebel. \m
