My school doesn't care about drugs or anything like that. I've seen people get caught selling pot in class (before it was basically legal) and just got told to do that elsewhere. (At least, I think it was pot.) Also smoking on school property, underage, just got yelled at. But do something really dangerous, like *gasp* wear a hat, and you're in BIG trouble! (They give the same thing for hats as for arson too. )

Our entire district (www.ccsd.net, if you want) has a dress code.

Hats are banned, because they can be related to gangsterz and l33t sh1zn47 like that. =o

Hell, they took my laptop (the old 250 MHZ one) because 'it could plug into the network'

Fat chance, given it doesn't even have a network port

What is the punishment for hats, anyway?

3 days minimum suspension. Yes, for wearing a hat. Yes, for lighting the building on fire. Yes, very stupid.

And you didn't really expect them to know something like that about the computers did you? I'm surprised they haven't confiscated my digital watch yet. OMG ITS TEH COMPUTER! HAX0R!

This thread suddenly reminds me of something that happened at my old school. If I recall correctly, a bully threatened a teacher with a knife (though I think it was just a knife you eat with). He was expelled, but the principal became yelled at, since everyone has to go to school by law until they finish the 9th grade. Therefore, he went back to school a few days later.
Luckily, the principal later made a certain "loser bully class" where they grouped together those morons that disturbed the lessions and such and gave them extra help with the education and such. (By the way, the class was called "L

They gave them extra help with their schooling, it's not like they tossed them into a dark room with dirty water and stale bread.

Lots of schools do that, and they can work IF the program's implemented properly and focuses on the right individuals.

My school is pretty fucked up. They ban hats, hoodies (because it tarnishes the image of the school, apparantly), jeans or trousers that are not darker than navy blue, denim jackets, shirts with collars, coats (you can only wear anoraks) and rings or wrist wear, plus jewellery is confined to small studs (which isn't so bad). And we have a uniform of a jumper and polo shirt with the logo on.

Whats more fucked up is this: we had a repeat offender in our school named Sonny who used to bring in an aerosol can with gas, a lighter, and he tried to set other kids on fire. Guess how long the school took to expell him?

2 1/2 years. And he did this REPEATEDLY.

Thankfully karma has decided to bite back at my school because last week it was flooded and we don't have any school now until next year.

It's just another example to taking things to the extreme, particularly in terms of prevention of violence. Really anything can be used as a weapon, if the proper adjustments are made.

When I was on a flight from Rome to New York once, I pulled out my cd player to listen to some music. The flight attendant came up to me and told me that I could not listen to cds during any part of the flight. When asked why I couldn

Sadly, the only other way that would have been brought to light would be if said method was used in an actual hijacking or attack on a plane. 5 years ago virtually no airline would ban (or prohibit) the use of CD players.

Anything can be used as a weapon but you have to draw the line somewhere. As long as the security check is thorough and complete, things SHOULD be fine.

I hope the next terrorist attack involves scissors and CD discs.

Hopefully it will proof how bad thoose "weapons" really are.

...still wouldn't it make a funny element in a action movie?

...for being honest, I never heard anyone being expelled from our school or any fight at all.

Bad: Sorry, sir. You can't bring that CD player to the plane. CDs could be used to cut off people's heads. Have a nice day.

Worse: Sorry, sir. We can't transport your luggage on the plane. You could go down into the luggage room of the plane, fetch it and kill the pilots by shashing their heads with the bag. Have a nice day.

Worst: Sorry, sir. You can't bring your clothes to the plane. They could be used to strangle the pilots. Have a nice day.

GAAH: Sorry, sir. Passengers are no longer allowed on the planes due to the risk of terror attacks. Have a nice day.

WTF?!?!?!?!?!: Sorry, Mr. Pilot. You are fired because there's a 0.1% chance of you being a terrorist. Have a nice day.

ONO: Sorry, sir. Humanity are no longer allowed on the earth due to the risk of terror attacks. Please enter this space shuttle that will dump you in outher space. Have a nice day.

*rereads your post* No you weren't. How can you honestly expect someone to take you seriously when you say something like that? Same with smallhacker. It's just infeasible. The people in the report were following procedure no matter how dumb it sounded, but something like what you said will never happen.
