Geez... That's insane... But then again, any school with a dress code can't really be that serious... :/ If there were such a thing as dess codes at my old school, everybody in the 9th grade would be expelled the last school day before christmas every year. (It's a tradition that the 9th graders dress up as whatever they want that day) |

I once took a disabled WW2 flare gun to school, just to prove that there was, in fact, cool shit lying around the house. The teacher took it from me, but I got it back the same day, no punishment in whatever form. Ofcourse, that was several years ago. I don't go to school anymore and Holland is following suit. |

Man, when I was 10 and I went to elementary school, the teachers GAVE us scissors at the last class each friday, we would "knock together" (<- Sorry if that's fucked up English, but that's what Altavista told me that "knutselen" was :o) all sorts of things and such :o When I was 10 I wasn't even thinking of stabbing someone with them anyway

^ I'm guessing that's actually "throw together", which is an idiom, and it means to make stuff in an ad hoc fashion.

Originally posted by HyperHackerDunno, the suspended three days for swearing thing is somewhat reasonable. Suspension for fighting off school properly, though... Is... Very strange. |

They do that at non private schools? I know at my high school, one year there was rumor about a big fight brewing, and people thought they'd get away with it since it was off school property. But somehow it got leaked to the faculty, and the guys managed to hear about that before the fight occurred so they didn't end up getting suspended. I thought the reason the school looked out for shit like that was because they wanted to protect their image. Not that public schools have a bad image, it's just that more high profile institutions have farther to fall in the media. If some rich parent finds out that fights go on at the (presumably safe) high school he/she's planning to send their kid to, they may think twice. |

My school image would be pretty bad then. One of the new pupils got kicked out for not doing his school work but do you know what the worst part was? He smoked weed and various other stuff. |

We used to have dress codes and stuff but they weren't too harsh with them and they told us to tuck in our shirts but I never did and a lotta people did. Teachers didn't really care. It wasn't public or anything but that's just crazy, with expelling them for reasons that don't make much sense. Heh..it's kinda funny.

Er. It's incredible that he didn't get kicked out for the smoking... The rest was obviously about schoolwork, as I said that it was...

Oh. Well, you said that he got kicked out for not doing schoolwork, and then you said he smoked, and you said it in a way that made the two seem unrelated, so I just assumed... Ah well, that answers all my questions. |

Well, it was referred to as 8 inch shears. It was fucking big pair of scissors for an elementary school kid to have. 8 inches, that has got to be like this long. |
