Like some games are E for everyone and T for teen... Well... Kingdom Hearts, Chain of Memories, is rated E, but F-Zero GX is rated Teen, as is Crystal Chronicals. Paper Mario E... Now, if you don't understand why I am complaning, it is because Kingdom Hearts and Paper Mario are almost based around fighting, as is Crystal Chronicals... Now Crystal Chronicals (Geez, I am butchering that word aren't I?) is based around violence that looks about the same as Kingdom Hearts, but it is Teen... F-Zero GX doesn't really even have violence at all and it is rated Teen. So in conculsion the people that rate games are fucked up... |

Well. In F-Zero GX, ships explode. Ships explode a lot. People are in these ships... Plus there's quite a bit of violence in the story mode. Plus if I recall correctly there's blood, too. Plus it has suggestive themes which are generally the easiest way to "rank up" your game, it seems... So what if the other games are based around fighting? There's not blood in Paper Mario (dunno about the others) and the violence is somewhat... comically portrayed. And it's definitely not as grave as that in F-Zero GX. Plus you have to consider the fact that the people who rate these things don't play the games, they're sent clips with what are deemed the highest amount of ___ featured in the game, and the rating is based on that. |

So, you are saying that FF:CC got T just because there is that one scene when that one guy died, and you didn't see anything about it and he just collapsed...? Still, you see people almost dead in KH and a lot of dieing monsters, animated serious violence and nothing above an E, or did they go easy because of Disney? (I hope not...) |

Look at Halo 2 though, it is rated M, but what content does it really have that gives it M? I could understand T, but not M, ever. Some games just get rating that make no sense, especially since no one cares if they see blood anymore.

In Halo 2 I have heard Marine NPC's say "F" a few times. That's probably why .... oh boy, horrible language! I'm assuming you "cut" things in FF:CC? With a sword or something; If so, more than likely there's your Teen rating right there for "Violence". The rating system is bizarre, luckily now that I'm 17 I really don't have to worry about it anymore, after I turned 17 I went and bought San Andres by myself, and that games like all the Friday movies in one. ^_~ (edited by Xeogred on 12-11-04 08:59 PM) |

I find game ratings stupid. seeing how those who make them are like "OMG VIOLENCE, RATE IT 'M' NOW!". There isn't ANY games which are more violent than what you can see on TV (like news).

How about we just change the rating system somehow? Or complain till they change it themselves...

The current system HAS gone through a few modifications since it was introduced. The companies would have been nailed by the government if they didn't join together on this. |

Depends on the store in question; it's like taking a chance at 19-20 and purchasing something at a liquor store without the clerk checking your ID. It's not a constant, as you'd expect. |

Best Buy's are usually linet at least around my area. But Gamestop's ... I once went in and took about 10 old PSX games that I was hoping to buy to the desk, then the guy noticed I had a few M games in there and didn't let me. |

Hm, are they required by low not to allow M rated games to be bought by minors? I'm sure people at larger stores like Target wouldn't ever check something like that...

I'm *not* sure if it's law but it's strongly recommended by the ESRB. I know I wouldn't sell GTA: San Andreas to a 10-year old. |

The same thing goes for most of the rating systems now, and with the parental advisory system. I dont understand the rating either, like with splinter Cell, it has a descriptor of blood and gore, and a descriptor of violence. Most games with those descriptors get an M rating, when games that dont have blood or gore get an M rating. A good example of that is DRIV3R, it has a descriptor of violence, but has no blood. its just a bunch of shit, and i think that only one store near me enforces the ratings, and it usually depends on who is working there if you can buy M rated games whatever age you are...
