well, at least someone is....

that one thing (no sex before marriage) would basically eliminate sexually transmitted diseases in a generation or two....

but.... sex is too much fun right?

Studies show, abstinance doesn't slow sexually transmitted disease!

well, of course it won't.... not unless people actually are abstinant....

most people have sex before they are married.... and most have at least 2 partners.... usually more...

now, if everyone had one partner.... only.... STD's would go away.... for the most part.... in a generation or 2.... at least it makes sense that it would

Well sadly enough, to me the only effective way to get rid of something like AIDS is to do widespread quarantine. The public doesn't seem scared enough of the disease for them to just stop having all kinds of sex. But quarantining will never happen b/c of civil rights and all that jazz.

Problem is geogree, most STDs can be passed from mother to child. And even more of them can be given to rare causation without sexual contact.

Back to the religious subject, I choose not to participate in any religion, but I do not deny the possibility of the existence in a God. I also do not associate myself with Agnostics, because honestly, I don't give a damn one way or the other. I don't lead a bad life, I try to lead the best life I can, but I'm not modeling myself after Jesus nor am I afraid of a hell. The closest thing I could relate myself to is Buddhist, but not so... Buddhist. :-P

Holy shit! I'm the first the Jew on the board I guess....

I enjoy studying the beliefs of many cultures, religions, and scriptures.

I would probaly identify closest with Ebionite Judaism and Karaite Judaism.

Religion is a facinating topic!

We used to have another Jew, Bomburski. But he is long gone.

Karaite Judiasm is an old sect that is relatively small these days. They reject the writings of the Talmud and Mishnah as inspired and accept only the Tanakh (or Old Testament).
They also rely on a different calender than Rabbincal Judiasm. It is based solely on the Lunar Cycle and observation of the crops in Palestine.

Ebionite Judaism is even older, dating back at least to the second century and many believe to the first. They were Jews who while remaining "Zealous for the Torah" (Acts 21:10) They accepted Jesus Christ (or as they called him Yeshu) as the Messiah but rejected the fact that he was God incarnate. They rejected the "Lord's Day" or Sunday Observance, Easter, etc. in favor of the Sabbath, Passover, and other Judaic festivals.

Many of the early Church Fathers attacked them as Heretics and thus theie numbers dropped and no mention of them appears after the fifthe century.
