He didn't go to hell. Before Jesus died, everyone who died went down. Some went to Hell, some to Paradise. When Jesus died, he went to get the people out of Paradise and take them to heaven.

I don't think it does. *checks bible.....

Hrmmmm....can't find anything either way. Gonna be up all night studying this one.

I do know the old testament talks about it being Paradise and Hades. The story of Lazarus and the rich man talks about the rich man being in hell, and he sees Lazarus afar off in Abrahams bosom. Which is paradise from the OT. Dunno, gonna find it, will post tomorrow.

Protestants don't believe Jesus went to Hell. Catholics believe, as the original Church, that Jesus when he went down to Hell destroyed the bridges over the Malbolges, weakening Satan. In Dante's Inferno they refer to him as the Shaker. Funny, but relating to his Holiness resonating through the decripts reaches of Hell. The earthquakes he caused created Mount Purgatory, allowing God's forgiveness to reach those who are pious, but made mistakes. This allows them to repent and gain entry to Heaven. It also works on the non-Baptized, because prior to Mount Purgatory all Pagans who died but were virtous were sentenced to Limbo.

It is basic Catholic doctrine.

And Geogree, he doesn't believe, God believes in Himself based on his ideals.

If we want to get into Biblical dating, the original book cataloguing Jesus' decent to Hell was striken at the Council of Nicea as well as three other books (the concept of the bible having 80 books or something like that is preposterous, there were THOUSANDS of collections of Christ's life, but the Greeks only collected the most complete and sensicle). And then when the Rome was sacked by the Vandals, the original copies of the compiled Bible were lost. Thus a lot of information was gone when the scribes had to rewrite it. Then the Luteran and Protestant Reformation caused even more upheaval, as the concepts of Pre-Destination and opposing everything Catholic came into play.

see.... you really didn't answer the question of whether the bible is actually clear or not....

you quoted no verses.... you just said that the "book cataloguing Jesus' decent to Hell was striken at the Council of Nicea as well as three other books"

so, technically you didn't even use the bible

Technically, you aren't using it either, your point?

Tell me a piece of the Bible where it specifically says "Jesus didn't go to Hell" (quote info here). I'm also going to need the version, translator and funder of the Bible run.

So technically. I'm using history to explain the absense of a closely held Catholic belief from the Bible.

As I said before:

It's actually in the Crede (sp?) that Jesus decended into hell before he was resurrected (and I believe in the bible as well). I'm Lutheran (a subdivision of the protestants), and we recite the Crede at our church, AND believe Jesus decended into hell before he was resurrected .

And it's the most liberal church in vancouver.

It's in the new testament somewhere, in the first four gospels.

Find it yourself .

No, you're the one who says it isn't there .

Yeah, it's in the Apostle's Creed, which oddly enough, I think is recited by both the protestant church, and the catholic church.

Protestants just drop the "I believe in the communion, and Holy Catholic Church".

Actually, for us, that's not totally true.

We keep the "Holy Catholic Church", because it doesn't literally mean the Roman Catholic Church, it means more of a standard church, just like believing in church (if that makes sense). We drop the communion thing though.

windwaker: actually, I asked you to show me where it was, if it is indeed in there....

you claim it is, I claim it isn't.... I can't quote you the whole bible to be able to prove it's not there.... that doesn't make sense.... but you can find it in order to prove me wrong....
